TF2 Engineer Update

Regarding hat drops, I've pumped a few hundred hours into this game, yet to get a random hat drop...

I have crafted the following hats..

That engineer red/white cap
The scout hatless skin (raged hard when I crafted that)
 
Pfft I've seen you spending hours on end idling on achievement servers.


IIrc valve put in measures to stop that, maybe there's more secret ones that reduce your odds even more for using them? :p
 
Sure, I do leave it in idle rooms in spectator mode. But I've had a good few hundred hours of actual game play too mate :)

Yeah, idling doesn't increase your chances anymore. Everyone has a drop cap now, I think it's a weekly limit. The more you play the less chance you have to get a drop, hence sitting in idle servers will give you the same chance of getting a drop as someone who plays 6-7 hours a week.
 
I suppose the only benefit of idling servers is that once your weekly drop limit is reset (Thursday?) and you don't have any time to play the game just leave it idling so you can gain items quickly.

Just keep the scout 1 for crafting when you get another bad hat.

i'm going to craft a soldier hat as my next 1, as I like all the soldier hats, as opposed to other classes where some of them are terribad.
