TF2 Heavy Update

I got this one last night in the middle of a massive fight. Was trying to get into the intel room and there was a sentry gun (shot + explosives), a pyro (burnt) and a heavy (bludgeoned) all waiting for me :D Luckily I had a medic who uber-ed me so off I went.

Altho it appears that the game is glitched atm. I was fireing for 2 minuites solid last night, yet dont have the $200,000 achievement, but somehow Ive got the 'freezcam taunting while ubered' achievement that I havent done.

There was someone on the server I was on with the "eat 100 sandviches" achievement, who hadnt unlocked the sandvich lol

Yeah, I had two achievs before I'd even joined a server, I think it was the 100 sandvichs & the ubered taunt freezecam ones. But when I restarted the game those stats reset, even though I'd eaten a few sandviches.

I know its meant to be but you've absoloutely no chance against another heavy armed with sacha, even witha medic i got royally raped against a heavy with no medic. :eek:

1v1 vs another heavy it will be underpowered :P but if you travel with a demo or another heavy or something then Natascha is very good :) slows you right down :(



If people want a quick way to get the Iron Kurtain achievement - just get hit by a train on well :P instant achievement lol :)
 
Only just started playing TF2 again, the Pyros are still stupidly overpowered :/.

Anyway, what do the add on pack weapons do, as I've not really seen much about them. Once you've unlocked them do you get an extra weapon to change, or does it replace your existing one?

Ruins the game? Are you new to TF2? :P This happens everytime a class patch happens. It happened with Medics and it happened with Pyros and now HWs! Expect plenty of Snipers / Spies / Scouts / Engineers / Demos and Soldiers in the future :P

It replaces existing ones if you want them to. So you get 3 weapon slots and each slot has 2 choices once unlocked.

Quake 3 was released in 1999 and RA3 around 2001 so I'm not sure what you're talking about here ";) lol"

Either way, it doesn't stop TDM being unequal to last man standing gameplay. CA is CA and TDM is TDM. Not too hard to understand.

Yeah my mistake :P I only half read the descriptions


The first Rocket Arena was made for Quake in 1997 :P

Orange Smoothie Productions apparently started his mod in 98 for Quake2 :p

Anyway, the mods have been around almost as long as Q3 which was my original point lol

No arguments there, but that doesn't make your comment about RA3 being released in 1997 any more true:

My point is that they are mods and the gameplay types are a) different and b) have different names to TDM. I'll fully agree with you that CA and RA/etc are more fun (imo) than TDM but they are completely different game modes with a different name. The only similarity is that you can play as a team if you've got it set that way.

Anyhow, I'm sure this is rather boring for all the TF2 players in the thread so I'll stop going on about it now.

Did you read what I said? lol :P I read the wrong dates! Yes, Quake3 was released in 99 and yes, obviously OSP and RA for Quake 3 werent out before that... I already said that Id made a mistake so quoting me again is al rather pointless surely?

Afaik they were the most popular methods of play in Quake 3. If you wanted 1v1 or Team deathmatches, you played RA3 and if you wanted some good games of CTF which is mainly what I played for a while then OSP was the accepted standard.

Going back to the original reason to mention all of this. Respawning after every round is the best way to do TDM whether its UT or Q3 or TF2. Nothing to do with CS as previously mentioned by someone :)

Personally I like the new Arena game play and the Lumberyard map seems pretty good for the job too! Only had a few mins of play on the Well arena map but that seemed fine too not as new and shiny as the purpose built arenas.

All in all it seems a good patch :) our server has been changed to Arena only for a bit so we can get some playtime on it :D

Bah, opened up Steam to check out the Heavy today only to find that somehow TF2 is no longer installed and I have to reinstall . . . 11% :(

I have had that a few times, I think I just closed it down or restarted my machine and then tried again and it was there..

I have had 3 crashes since this patch... very annoying. :(:mad:
