TF2 Heavy Update

Can't see the fuss about all this achievement whine. I don't particularly look at the descriptions for each, just gauge a general idea what sort of gameplay style it promotes. I'm always doing crazy/stupid/new things in-game anyway, so I generally end up getting most of the achievements that way.
 
Hate when new updates come out and it is massive slug fest, now it's heavies with medics vs heavies with medics, what a bore !!!

I got the 1st medic unlock and haven't got any pyro ones yet, not because I'm crap at it and don't play, but mainly because I get much more satisfaction playing ther classes and winning the game as a team.

Might play medic now to get the rest of the weapons, or just rocket man as ever, seem to get loads of crits against these heavy spammers, which annoys them nicely :D
 
You're "Cheating yourself" Earning them as you play will make you a better player, i've adapted my gameplay for each achievement and have got better the more I play....:cool: Invest in the game M8 and the rewards will come, unlike the cheats that take shortcuts and can't be bothered to play to earn achievements in game.... they always end up on my "Dominated" list...:D These achievement servers are not illegal, thery are just a place where loosers meet....
You're an idiot, and it's "losers" by the way.

How on Earth are you bettering your game by taunting whilst ubered as a Heavy? Yeah, that's really helping your team.

Maybe, but the basic game just seems too suicide/death orientated... You can play as well as you like, but some random paper-scissors-stone event will kill you (regularly)...

It's just beginning to feel like just wave after wave of suicides against, waves of waves of suicides...

I can't help but wonder if this is why 'deaths' are not shown on the score board, because they just don't matter... When in fact they should be a part of the game you should be struggling not to experience... Not embracing like currently...
 
Well all achievements done, non farmed in achievement box .. about 17 hours of playing.

Minigun is kinda crappy! :( could see a use for it but no map really lets you use its potential.

Sandvich is a godsend, 100% Needed.

Gloves are kinda .. different, prefer the default ones though as the crits after kill are usually wasted, and slower attack speed 4tl.
 
well to be honest i havent unlocked anything yet for any class . i havent been fussed about achievements but i must say, i do love the sound of the new heavy gun.
 
You are assuming that the unlocks are somehow better than the originals. That unlocking the weapons gives you an advantage. This is not true. They are designed as balanced alternatives. If you want to use the Horror game analogy, then it would be like unlocking different coloured versions of the same guns. The gameplay is no easier and then sense of achievement is no less.

No if anything it was boring without them, because I felt the need to grind to unlock them. Before the updates came I would have said TF2 was a 10/10 but now I'd have to say 9/10. I liked the game because it was simple and well balanced and anyone could come in and play.

But anyone starting the game now or in the future will have to play a lot before they get to the same level playing field as everyone else. It also makes it more confusing because it doesn't even mention how to unlock the weapons.

Firstly as Skeeter pointed out there is a always a level playing field. Name me one unlockable weapon that is more powerful than the standard item.

As for n00b being confused, do you think a n00b would understand have the medics health gun works or how to set up a teleport or how to disguise as an enemy demo? At some point you're gonna have to RTFM ;)

I'm a career medic so I've unlocked all the medic achievements but I feel in no way inclined to unlock any of the other classes weapons. Not having any of the other classes does not affect the "fun" factor in any way. I can understand that some people might want to "clock" the game, if that's your thing grind away but it won't affect the game play if you haven't got the achievements or new weapons.

What do you mean by "paper-scissors-stone event will kill you"? If you find a server where people are just charging forward into rocket/demo/heavy spam then that's the style of the players on that server. I agree that too many people adopt that style of play but its not a problem with the game design. Team work and organisation will always beat this tactic. Deaths are shown on your stats but not on others. In the interests of simplicity I think K/D should not be shown.

Arena Mode forces you to not die since there's no respawn. Give it a go, its a good laugh :)

Had a play with the Kritzkrieg last night, testing the new 25% faster charge. Works really well with the Heavies who have Natascha. The new maps too give medics lots of places to stand out the way while the Heavy goes to work. On the "classic" maps the invul uber is still the best option but Valve have made the kritz a viable alternative on the new ones.

I generally take a new TF2 update as a chance to work on getting the unlocks from the last one. For example, I got 3 achievements at once last night by running around a corner and cooking 3 heavys and their medic.

Easy pickings. :D

I generally have no idea what the achievements are though, I just get them when i get them, last night I took down 2 heavy's, 1 on 1, with the medic saw thing, thought i'd get an achievement for that, since like...it IS an achievement. :/

Yeah that, I have got milestone 3 for pyro which took me 2 days and also milestone 2 medic which took a few weeks. I just can't seem to get that new bonesaw. :(
 
I'm really curious as to what the Sniper update will be, given that it's my favourite class. I hope its a bit more survivability close in.
 
Well, I meant more that there is so many heavies about now, and they're easy pickings for a headshot.

yes mate i no its just now that theres even more heavys and more snipers if you not good at sniping your going to get bombarded with $200 shells from the mingun :p
 
Played on a 32 player server with no class limit last night, one team had 12 Heavy's the other had 10+ from what I could tell. It was carnage on 2fort bridge but very funny.
 
Well I'll say one thing for the Heavy patch. It's made my score as a sniper rocket :).

Same! Was playing Bad Water and the other team was attacking with about 6 of their team out of 8 as heavys!

I just stood at the back and sniped. By the end of the round I had about 20 kils and 3 deaths, dominating 3 of the other team! :)
 
im really bad with a heavy, i must be the only person that can start attacking another heavy who has lower health...and loose :( i cant kill anything lol
