TF2 MvM update (now with co-op mode)

Hardly reading comprehension issues, the post mentioning money didn't explicitly state there are two modes. Even still, paying 60p for a pot-shot at getting a cosmetic item is a swindle of the highest order. It's the video-game equivalent of those hook-plunger machines at arcades. I'm insulted that Valve treat their playerbase like this, regarding them as nothing more than bovine cash-cows for gimmick items. They're getting rich off the presumption that 90% of casual gamers are idiots (and it seems they are).

Well that's not how it works - the tickets are only 'used' on successful completion of a mission, where as i understand it you're guaranteed an item.

Trying to play this 1 player but unfortunately its impossible, i would have thought the waves were balanced by number of people playing but obviously not.

That would require them to have put any thought into the game instead of just have a bunch of mindless ai run down a path shooting everything they see with hats for players.
Dunno... I haven't even played yet, I wonder if I'm wrong :P

I also wonder when more devs will realise dynamic player counts in coop are the way forward instead of forcing an artificial limit.

Matchmaking is down, but previously when it was down you were still able to search via the old server browser, this has changed?

Afaik both are basically the same thing. Matchmaking does the server selection for you. At least that's how I'd do it.

You should still be able to access servers directly (connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx), or use your browse history / favorites.

Yiou can also try a different download region (steam -> settings -> download + cloud, manchester / london / whatever).

You pay £0.59 for a cosmetic item. This is a free to play game. The only way to make money on a free to play game is to sell cosmetic items. Valve isn't forcing anyone to buy anything. How else can they make money on a free to play game?

Do you also disagree with Dota 2's micro transaction system? Or League of Legends? These 2 games are also free to play and offer microtransactions for meaningless cosmetic items. Clearly it works since Riot is now one of the most successful developers in the game industry, and the only way they have made money is by selling cosmetic items...

You can play the game for free

if you don't buy a ticket you don't get the new MvM cosmetic items, just regular drops like in any other server

Valve aren't stupid. They're not going to bring out a pay to play game mode after making the game free to play. :/

I'm seriously wondering how people have such horrible reading comprehension. It clearly says the tickets give you a cosmetic items, it doesn't say anywhere you need the tickets to play MvM at all.

This is the first line in the FAQ.

"Q: Do I need to buy anything to play Mann vs. Machine?
No."

Come on.

Set my own game up as trying to find a server is a joke. I.P is 86.177.164.41:27015

Just type or copy and paste this into console to connect:

Connect 86.177.164.41:27015

I'm pretty annoyed with this update to be honest...

I have no intention of ever playing the new gimmick gametype, and still my game crashes every 30 minutes or so now when I die to some audio-freeze bug. Never had a crash bug before and I've played since Beta.

GJ Valve. Pushing out content for cash that makes the game less stable.

Yes I do disagree with it. 'Successful' =/= right. Logical fallacy. Many things that are successful are to the detriment of the actual gameplay experience. A company making profits does not necessarily mean the gamers are getting the best experience possible.
