That moment when you clock the van...

Lincolnshire has a population of ~700,000 which obviously includes OAPs, kids and other non drivers so 45,000 speeders caught seems like a very high number.

Seems a perfectly reasonable overtake to me.

What this does tell me is that any future 113 MPH overtakes will result in very light consequences, even if caught red handed.

I also like the 'he was very lucky' - why, because his car didn't burst in to flames, destroying Lincolnshire, when he exceeded 100? Give me a break.

Does make me wonder, at what point he looked down the road to see if it was clear for an overtake and managed to not see the camera van parked at the side of the road.

Observation skills fail.

A 6 month ban is a pretty serious punishment for anyone that works a distance from home, it'd have a severe financial effect on myself having to catch taxis each day if I lost my vehicle.

Maybe not all the way up to 113MPH in my Clio 182, but I too when doing an overtake (especially a long one of multiple vehicles like that) would give it some welly to get it over and done with quicker.

I thought the same regarding sentencing ...

Thought exactly the same thing. It wasn't like he came around the corner, it was straight. Deserves it for the terrible observation and the even more ludicrous braking... like it would make a difference.

He has a 911 Turbo, so I'm guessing he'll cope for 6 months ;)

I guess the lesson here is that: acquire money, speed freely.
At 113MPH? You do say this stuff just to cause a stir, right?
I say it because I mean it, but also because I find it funny when people with 100 HP cars get angry about it. It probably took the 911 about 5 seconds to accelerate to 113 MPH for that overtake.

You've no idea how 'hidden' or far away the camera was, though.

Better to overtake at 113MPH than 43MPH, you're in the danger zone of the other lane for less time eh? :p

A 996 turbo will hit 113mph very quickly, and also stop very quickly from that speed. Ironically it would have been an uneventful pass had the camera van not been there.

Hit biggest mistake was pleading guilty to careless driving.

I did exactly this when I first got this bike, clocked the camera van at 90mph, slammed on the front brake and locked it up, by the time I got to the other side of the van I was doing 40 :D

Big plume of smoke from my front tyre and off I went, to this day my mate following doesn't know how I stayed on... sheer luck
