That's it, I'm never eating another apple, EVER.

Had HALF an apple about 2 hours ago, and have had the worst heartburn since.

Does anyone else get heartburn from apples?

Oh, and i was chewing it till it was basically liquid.

It feels like i've swallowed cement! :( - and rennies aren't working either.

I've never experienced this much pain in my life tbh...

could it be something more serious?

yes you have been poisoned!

who gave you the apple?
what does the mirror on the wall say ?

Apples are rubbish.

Hard to eat, bruise easily and generally lack excitement.

I can eat one but it has to be sliced with the core removed.

Nonsense, along with the BIG oranges that you must cut with a pearing knife Apples serve an excellent desert or snack and the more you eat the better!

A while back a friend of mine became addicted to pickle vinegar and sipped it from a jar in the fridge when she was at my house. She was pregnant at the time but the midwife told her it was also a good cure for heartburn.

Never had the problem to try it out for myself but you never know.

Weird, never once had heartburn from an apple or apple juice.

Come to think of it, I don't think I've even had heartburn, indigestion yes.

didnt you do biology?

Aye, and degree level biochemistry, which is why I thought of that. Biological systems aren't exactly great when you get down to the nitty gritty, and occasionally don't do what they should. A massive rise in acidity, could possibly cause the normal regulatory pathways to start up, but again it depends what the body "sees" as it's normal and it's acceptable range, and where heartburn falls in that scale.

I understand your logic, but afaik negative feedback system with regards to using vingear wouldn't be effective, seeing as gastric acid is more acidic than any vinegar could be. Regardless of this, as the ph of stomach acid is something like ph 2 or even less, heartburn is a 'normal' symptom in that acid + oesophagus = pain. The problem is unlikely to be that there is too much acid, the problem is that it is getting into somewhere it shouldn't be, i.e. the oesophagus.

Edit: Oops wrong about stuff
