See how many miles you can clock up :D

From reserve fill up with just £10 and see how many miles you can do till you hit reserve again(zero your trip meter),be interesting to see the differences in mileage across the engine sizes and maybe between carburettor/fuel injected machines

If memory serves my "reserve" light comes on at around 160 miles into a full tank and gives me somewhere between 40 - 50 more miles. I'll try to do this but I've never had the light come on close to a petrol station.

Going by my usual mpg I should beat your number.

just head to nearest petrol station once light comes on,aslong as its not 20 miles away;)

ill post up a scoreboard aswell just for fun

I cant see an 800cc beating a 600cc with same amount of fuel? but prove me wrong

Myself I'm only getting 150 miles out of a tankful (£22 worth) so I've got no chance, that's on a Aprilia RSV1000 mille.

Come to think of it wazza this is a terrible idea. The suns has started to come out, it is warming up, the roads are clean and your suggesting everybody rides around trying to conserve fuel......:p:eek::p

just ride normally,i did thrash mine a bit,i wasn't really trying to conserve,i rarely do:p

I agree though the thou's drink gas like no tomorrow (its a good job they've found oil near Gatwick airport)

With fuel being 110.9 per ltr that makes 9 ltrs for a tenner. That's 1.98 gallons @ 51 mpg if I just ride normally making it 100.98 miles :D

Saying that as I've never paid much notice of the reserve light I've no idea if it's consistent at its level for coming on.

oh oh! oh wait... only costs me $12 to fill up from completely empty... can we do a 7BGP challenge ? :P 154 from $12

My light on my zzr1100 comes on at 90-100 miles with my normal riding style and i can fit 3 gallon/13.5 liters in so £10 would get me 60-66.66 miles. My mate has the same exact bike and when his light comes on he has done 150miles!

The Tornado was only getting about 35mpg on the long trip I did a few days back, and that wasn't really riding hard (about 70 miles on £10). I know they aren't great on fuel, but it must be running very rich to be using that much. My 918 Fireblade manages around 45mpg (90 miles to a tenner at current prices) on a decent run.

My RSV was amazingly good on fuel, though it had been nicely mapped with a PC3. Cruising at a constant 80mph would return close to 50mpg. The guy I sold it to couldn't believe how little fuel it used, he rang me up to ask if the fuel light worked as he was getting paranoid about it not coming on :D

I wonder if its because of fuel injection? I reckon they use more juice

@ ace yeah you have cheaper petrol but no NHS should you come a cropper haha

my last fill up I got 211 miles for 15 litres
the best I have got is 243 for 16.5 litres.

if I remember i'll try to do it, but I like to have a full tank once Im on reserve
so I know I have easily 200+ miles without needing to look for a station
it has just under 5 gallon tank

That Kind of mileage can only be a 125?

At last, something my bike is good at!

I'm due to fill up tonight. But for reference a full tank is about £11.50 and I get at least 330miles out of that and I'm not even down to the red zone then - my bike is too basic for a light let alone a computer! Basic dial trip for me.

I need to get this exhaust mapped, I am not expecting the mileage to be amazing with it but I used to see 160-170 to a tank with a proper exhaust.

Lets see, i filled up on Wed & it was £16.30 for 165 miles, & i used 14.44 litres, which gives me 11.42 miles per litre of fuel, now my local garage is 112.9p per litre so a tenner would get me 8.84 litres of fuel which would give me 100.95 miles. not bad for an old Bandit 12S.

Bike needs a service and tune-up anyway, but I'm never going to get amazing mileage on an FJ1200. It's further hampered by most of my riding being in town lately, as I get almost double the range if I hit clear motorways.
