The 2011 Chilli growing thread - it's scorching!

Might need to pop down to Wilkos in the week and check them out, need some 15cm pots now as the roots are starting to come out the bottom on mine!
 
I've got a scotch bonnet on the go. It's about 3" tall, and is just starting to poke roots out the drainage holes in the base of the pot its in, so maybe I'll stick it into something bigger. I really don't have a clue what to do with the chillis after I get a crop, maybe hold a chilli eating contest with my mates (or find some recipes for them to go in!). :p

I also have a load of generic red chilli pepper seeds germinating, and are taking their time doing so!
 
pfft plant pots! get a bin like the small plastic kitchen ones stick some holes in the bottom :P overdsized plant pot with massive space for the roots to grow down
 
They have them pretty cheap on ebay, or at least they did last year when I got mine. Good quality as well, I've re-used them a few times now and they're as good as new after a quick rinse.

Once you have bought them they last forever so no point buying second hand scummy ones imo.
 
I stuck some Scotch Bonnet seeds in 4 large pots, went hog wild with the Baby Bio and the damn things are taking over my window. Fairly sure I will never be able to eat a chilli that strong, but its entertaining anyway :D

i got min from wilkos but they are fairly expensive imo, i think its nearly a quid a pot they have lasted for 3 seasons and look brand new when washed though.

i want some square ones for next time though
 
You do not need 2 as you do not mix flowers with flowers with chilli plants. Each flower has its own male and female parts hence a flick of the flower and the pollen goes on the stem or whatever its called the long thin thing coming from centre.
 
Deffo going to repot the Cayennes tomorrow, the roots are beginning to show. Ill leave the Bonnets for a little while, they are looking really healthy. The sun over the past week must have done them no end of good!

For what size? if thats for 5 Litre (23cm) pots then thats an amazing price. Will have to have a gander in there next time I go past.
 
Well I ended up getting bored today and had a root around in my shed, turns out I had 8 perfectly good 15cm pots already in there, also had 4 that are about 22cm so they will do me nicely! :)

As most of my plants already had roots coming out of the bottom of their pots I chose the 8 biggest ones, 2 of each variety and stuck them in my new found 15cm pots.

I've now got 6 chilli plants left to offload on people but can't seem to find anyone to give them too.. Seems a shame just to bin them. :(
