The 2011 Chilli growing thread - it's scorching!

Soon it'll be time to start prepping ;)

This time I need some advice on those ***** annoying flies. That even new compost seems to produce, no idea how it's getting contaminated.
The plants which I never brought inside, are holding up well and still seem to be alive. But suppose we haven't had any hard frost yet. Probably should bring them in.

well for a novice i had quite a good first attempt so have learnt a few things which i plan to implement in this year crop.

also got an amazing little bottle of super charged sauce for christmas

i can tell you i used 3/4 of a teaspoon in some sauce and it gives a nice tingley feeling in the mouth.

Building up slowly to hotter and hotter levels.

My first proper batch of seeds have been in the prop since the 31st!

Water/feed from the bottom if in pots, try to keep the top inch or so of soil dry.

Yep, ordered some Chilli seeds today to grow along with some from last year and some which Acid sent me.

Still got a jar of chilli oil, Its lovely when cooking chicken. Ran out of frozen chilli last week. So for my first year, its been pretty successful.

I'd like to try my hand at growing chillis this year, but I know nothing!
Does anyone have any good links with info/what to get etc?

I was thinking of getting a Jalapeno plant and 1 or 2 others, preferably something that doesn't need special food etc. I don't have a greenhouse, will I have to grow them in my window?

Split mind,
Makes more since in cuisine, won't fall down as fast.

On the other hand, will get far more foot falls in here.

Anyway you need to get it up soon.
