THE 50K CHALLENGE: NEW MUSTANG ON THE WAY, BUT WOULD 50K BE BETTER SPENT ON ANOTHER MARQUE?

I don't want these lovely things damaged!!

Like those, very nice wheels.

I'm interested to see how the SVR turns out.

Still hate that silly wing though, ruins the beautiful F-Type Coupé arse.

I could have got a blue one without the wing, so clearly the guy who specified that one agrees with you but for me I was only buying an SVR if it had:
- Electric blue colour
- fixed carbon wing
- carbon exterior pack

Mine also has carbon roof, but this was not a must as it is very rare option anyway.

But the wing was a must for me and retrofitting it is extremely hard if not impossible to do and would cost around £6000 to do so, carbon exterior pack is quite costly too, hence why I really wanted a car with those options.

To my knowledge there are now no blue SVR with carbon pack and carbon wing for sale currently, no idea on how many Jaguar sold in that colour/spec but it cannot be many considering they sold to my knowledge less than 200 SVR's since launch in the UK making them an extremely rare car and very rare in electric blue all the bits.

Those who prefer something more classy, I did find this:
https://www.pistonheads.com/classif.../other-models/jaguar-ftype-v8-svr-2dr/8127841

Looks a lot more subtle, though like you say based on how subtle/classy this was specified, they should have deleted the fixed wing too. Still I doubt they will ever sell this car, its not on Jaguars website, its not on autotrader and on PH it is not even in the F-type section and then the interior colour is probably not to everyone taste though I think it looks quite OK.

But for me I wanted louded and in your face, hence the blue with all the carbon. :)

so it that it then for the car ? i mean is it as good as it gets at stock or do you have plans for it ? :)

As long as nothing goes wrong and I am in the car the only plans are:
- Get the calipers re-painted yellow, I simply hate the red, looks nasty against the blue.
- Gloss black wheels I am not sure on but in the flesh they do look nice, but I think I do prefer the satin grey that was the other colour option from factory, so maybe get the wheels re-painted in a few months to this.
- Polish it, lol. :D
- Kill the Pzero, fit PS4S all round.
- I might see if I can get union jacks on the spoiler end plates like Lotus do on the Exiges.
- DRIVE IT! :D

That is it, I really cannot think of anything, yes I could tune it but at risk of warranty, so is it really worth tuning 576HP upto around 650HP and invalidate the warranty, I do not think so and the car felt might quick and super strong, like my old Saleen but even faster due to the gearbox.

It is a bit like if Ford released the GT350 / 350R in the UK, they are so sorted from factory there is not much to do, apart from maybe some minor customisation on the styling.

Thing is stock it looks nice, sits nice, sounds insane so not much to do.

I can think of something you should do to it.

Peel off the carbon fibre roof wrap, and have a full carbon fibre roof panel bonded in. Should have change from £800, and will shave 10KG off of the highest point of the car, lowering the centre of gravity for track use. ;)

Its not a wrap, both my cars have real carbon roofs. :)

ha ha Gibbo is mentioning the GT350............. i'll give you 8 months and you'll be bored of this, you'll sell it and buy another Mustang.... this thread is pure comedy i love it ha ha

It was meant as comparison for buying a sorted car from factory, if Ford released RHD 350 tomorrow, I'd not order one, prefer the SVR.

I'd not replace the SVR with a 350 because the SVR does everything better, particular on a UK road.

I will consider another Mustang when S650 is announced in 2020/21 at which point I will either get that or find a 2018 cheap and made just add it to the collection, right now I have no plans to move SVR on in short or long term, may just keep it long term and just add a 3rd car in a few years time. :)

I swear I remember there being an uproar about you wrapping your roof... :p

Yes about a year or two ago, if you check the M3 thread, you will see it had a proper carbon roof bonded in a couple of months ago and is now sat in the body shop having a full respray.

I get the impression he pays for everything to be done to it for him, which is what I'd do if I could afford it. :p

Depends what I can feasibly do myself in the drive way, for example I rebuilt the engine myself and on the Mustang I pretty much did it all myself. Working on cars I have no issue with and certain stuff that a lot of mechanics cannot do I do myself to ensure it has being done correctly.

Considering he took bottom end of engine apart on his m3 on his drive I beg to differ.
Did a lot of the work on his Saleen Mustang too from memory

Thank you guys, Acme does not know me, you guys do.

I was modding cars myself when Acme was in dipers. :)

Yes on the Mustang I supercharged it myself, did the suspension and brake system myself, infact I think I did the entire car myself. Similar for the M3 also. New Mustang I did most myself as well apart from the times I felt lazy. :D

yes Gibbo, i'm not trolling you at all, i feel this is what where you heart lies and the same with me too........... with ``Factory Five`` everything is supplied in kit form brand new, good assembly instructions, and they have an extensive configurator, the choice of engine etc is virtually endless.
https://www.factoryfive.com/

for me it would be the HOT ROD, but for you the GTM SUPERCAR....................just something to think about that's all

Looks fun, but its a weekend / toy car as I outlined for me any car I buy is a daily. My M3 might be a stripped out track warrior but I've used it as a daily and its a really nice thing to drive as a daily as I did re-carpet the interior and I kept the heaters. :)

Wasn't disputing his capabilities, just saying I got the impression he gets a lot of work done in the shop. Nothing wrong with that! :)

Well you did not even know I had a carbon roof, so your not following me close enough. ;)

Bodywork, electronics I generally steer clear off. Spannering I do most of it myself because I do not trust garages as they will generally do a job as fast as possible and go cowboy if something aint going their way. That is why I rebuilt the M3 engine myself, because then I knew it was spot on, whenever I got stuck or stressed I packed my tools up for the day and came back to it the next day on a fresh head which always worked. Garages need to free up ramps as soon as possible and I've seen far too many garages taking shortcuts or absolutely wacking cars with massive hammers when it was not really required.

Of course as I've got older, if the weather is not particular nice for working on cars or its a job I trust others to do, I am also fine with giving someone else the pound notes to do the job. I basically learnt a lot about cars when I got my Saleen as no garage had ever seen one, so why trust someone else with my pride and joy, as such I went DIY and learnt how to do things and just did that whole car myself.

The M3 I ventured even further, engine rebuild, writing my own ECU throttle maps, flashing the SMG with CSL software but it all went fine, but stuff like a full re-spray, fitting carbon roof is not my bag at all, I cannot paint and most people cannot fit a roof panel without messing it up, the horror stories on the M forums from people having carbon roofs down by specialist which then leak. Hence I made sure mine was done by the guys who make the roof and had fitted several trouble free beforehand.

and with a kit car you wont need to get filthy dirty etc, because it's all brand new with easy assembly instructions.

so you've got 28k for an I30N that isn't perfect and not quite what i want..none of them are, or 40k (crate engine will be expensive) for something that i'm building, engaging my brain for once, a proper thread for once, learning about cars for once...........and not wandering around the threads being a pain in the arse.................makes sense doesn't it.

put it this way, i'll buy an I30N...........i'll be bored in 6 months, i know i will

What is an I30N?

yes, but your kit car can be built as a comfy daily too, the list of options is endless, yes the kit car has a ``cheap and tacky image`` but i think you'll find that Factory five is high quality, esp the Hot Rod............ because you can have the interior either simple or quality bespoke, anything you want, that's the beauty of it.

You cannot make a kit car nice man, it is not possible, yes it may look nice but if you think you can make a kit car into a real nice sold quality car then your deeply mistaken, but everyone has different goals and what is one mans comfortable is another mans harsh and not tolerable. I've had a few German cars and if the Germans know something, its how to put a car together generally well. Oh doh and I just purchased a British car.

An expensive Hyundai. You would have to REALLY want an I30 to pay 28k for one :D

For a few K more more you can have a Focus RS.

Near 30k for a washing machine? 28k can get you used a Mustang GT, he wants a Mustang, he should buy one if he has 28k to spend, far better on a Mustang than a washing machine. :D

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGBS6-zlG3M

here's a classic example, that would be the wrong colour for me and the wrong engine sound, you'd deffo want a Roush blower whine or similar and there's no need to go above 570hp, because the thing is so light !!!!.......... just buy a crate motor and get chrome rocker covers, whatever you want................dash board looks plain, easy to get upholstered, in fact the whole interior can be done here in lymington.............. can be sprayed around the corner too, by the same guys that keep repairing my Jazz........that body will be dead easy to spray !

I'd not consider that be to a daily driver capable car, not even remotely, my M3 has a nicer interior and it does not have an interior. :D
But yes it is totally gorgeous car indeed, but would be a weekend toy.

Also modern Roush blowers don't whine, you need a Whipple for whine or Kenne Bell. :)

It depends the market segment your are in, I could do a lot of the servicing on my GTR myself... but it would be saving maybe 120 quid, I'm pretty sure not getting the Litcho stamp on a service would depreciate the car by more.

Litchfield are well trusted and like you say for £120 saving, that £120 is worth having them do it and their stamp in your book.
