***The 8800GT Cooling Thread***

Richdog wants me to post my results so:

Load temps are taken about 20 minutes into playing Crysis which gives the highest temps.

Stock cooling

66c Idle

95c Load

Because they were so high I couldn't wait to fit the S1 and cut up the voltage regulator heatsink using my dremel to use as additional heatsinks. Fitted it and tested passively first.

Passive

46-48 idle

70-72 load

After that I stuck a Lian Li 120mm fan on which has fairly poor airflow, I will be changing this to a Nexus 120mm.

Fan

36-37 idle

44-45 load

I clocked to 700/1750/2000 for the tests with the S1, temps didn't change.

The ambient temp is about 24-25c in my room

Highly recommended, but I also suggest buying some better thermal tape for the heatsinks as the stuff that comes on them is terrible.

Hmm I have a couple of spare Yate Loons I could mod for 7v. Hell, I could even hook them up to my rhoebus. I'll compare them to the turbo module when it arrives.

I never found a max clock with the stock cooler, although considering the temps I was getting I doubt it would go all that far.

Currently testing 720 core, 2010 mem with a max temp of 46c.

Just ran a 06 bench and max temp on stock cooling was 83c in ntune.

700/2000

This was displaying in realtime on my second monitor when running the bench.
