***The 8800GT Cooling Thread***

So am I right in saying that a EK-FC7900 (Full Cover) waterblock will fit the GT?

My bad! Humble apologies.
Are people really finding cooling on this card to be a problem? I've just aimed a fan at them and its shaved loads off the temps. Plus, running under the Nvidia control panel, it seems to keep the fan at a silly slow speed irrespective of the temps its hitting, which is why I don't use it.

No worries. ;)

I think the issue is that it's been given a single slot cooler and outputs as much heat as the GTS which had dual-slot coolers... so temps with the stock cooler are pretty much hitting max. I think investing in an aftermarket cooler will really work wonders... as indeed raikiri has already shown. :)

Looking at a few threads on other forums they've worked out the stock cooler has roughly 500cm² of surface area compared to 2000cm² on the stock GTS cooler.

The S1 has roughly 1720cm looking at it (21.5cm fins at about 1.25cm high give just over 26cm² per side with 32 fins) but it also has more heatpipes, much greater airflow and a more open design so heat doesn't get trapped. It also doesn't have to cool the voltage regulators or memory.

500cm² isn't much for a card with 110 a watt TDP.
