A place to discuss all things α6000, I've noticed an increase in owners in various threads lately lets start it off with a show of hands and kit list:-

Sony α6000 black
Samyang 12mm f2
Sony 35mm f1.8
Sony 50mm f1.8
Sony 55-210mm

Probably going to sell mine having invested in a D750, but I've still got:
A6000 black
Sigma 30mm 2.8
Sony 55-210mm
Sony 10-18mm f4 (awesome)
A few Minolta MD legacy lenses with an adaptor

a6000 black
only 1 lens at the moment..
18-200mm 3.5-6.3 le
got some old minolta lenses so will be looking into a decent adaptor.. think it is md minolta lenses

so far with the new lens, slightly disappointed, but only taken it out once.. so going to have to try again.. hoping i was being silly, and not the lens itself

I note the awesome next to the 10-18mm I'm looking at changing my Samyang for one as I'm not getting on with the MF, worth the extra ££?

Yup, as long as you're happy that its going to distort, though easy to fix post in Lightroom. Taken some of my favourite shots with this lens and its probably the only reason I'm keeping the A6000 at the mo. That and its well handy for travel photography.

Currently got an a6000 and CZ 16-70 F4 on it's way to me. Got it for a really good price.

With the way Sony is moving into FF mirrorless, it seems a good way to me to get into the system. I can buy FE lenses now (well, probably only the 70-200 F4 and the 28mm f2) and upgrade to an A7 later when funds allow.

Forgot to mention, the 10-18mm Sony is a good purchase especially if you're thinking of going Sony Full-frame as from around 12mm it covers almost all of the frame.

That's interesting I'm also looking at the 16-70mm f4 as a general walkabout lens, I've not used the 12mm so I'm not sure I'll get much use out of the 10-18mm, hmmm decisions!

The 16-70 f4 is very good across the focal range, perfect general-purpose walkabout lens in my opinion as long as you're not needing something faster (and far more expensive)

Got my A6000 since launch, currently have:

Sony 16mm F2.8 with VCL-ECU1 12mm ultra wide converter
Sony 24mm F1.8 Zeiss (My general walkabout lens)
Sony 50mm F1.8
Sony 16-50mm Power Zoom F3.5-5.6
Sony 55-210mm F4.5-6.3 (barely touched)
Sony HVL-F43M flash

The newest A7 family full-frame looks really tastly but I'm too invested in APS-C right now. Also I don't have much time right now to play with the gears so I'll be sticking with this setup for a good while yet.

I have an A6000, recently got am A7ii as well. Keeping the A6000 purely for wildlife, mainly with a Canon FD 100-300 f5.6L, Tamron Adaptall SP 300 2.8, Tamron Adaptall SP 400mm f4, Sigma 500mm f4.5 APO and Canon FD 200mm f4 Macro.

I only use manual focus lenses with both cameras.

You can see most of the lenses I've used on my website, click lens reviews: themanualphotographer.co.uk

What settings do people use to maximise battery life?

Does anyone have any recommendations for third party batteries?

Get a camera with an optical view finder;)
Seriously, about the only thing you can really do is turn off the instant image review and don't chimp away, but short battery life is just part of the mirrorless system. Higher power usage and smaller batteries is not conductive to long cycle times between charges.

Not sure if the Sony is the same as the Olympus but if your turn off the rear screen and just use the electronic viewfinder then battery life goes up from 300 pics max to about 1200.

I'll have to test it out soon. Just ordered the ACC-TRW pack from Germany, since mine only came with an EXpro battery (and 2 other no name ones that are suspiciously larger than spec and will thus remain in the box/disposed of since they don't even charge through the camera) and the USB charging takes far too long. For £56 it seemed a good deal for the battery and a proper charger.

What are people's thoughts on the 55-210? I'm pondering that rather than splashing out on the FE 70-200 G in a few months.

Ha, ha, ha :p

I've been reading that Pre-AF makes a big impact?

I doubt it. You can switch off AF altogether, and the sensor based IS to get a little more but really, eliminating the use off the rear LCD and perhaps reducing brightness of the EVF is the best you can do. the sensor itself and the processing ASIC uses a fair chunk of power but there is nothing you can do about that.

just stock up on loads of spare batteries.
