The absolute state of pubs these days

I average about £5 or £5.50 a pint down here for lager :(

Then again I was in Dublin last week, and paid €9 for a pint in some places.

Dublin really has killed itself with the cost of everything these days. More expenisive to go out in Dublin than it is to go out in London! Even staying in Dublin for 1 night was the best part of £200 for a medicore hotel room and average breakfast!

Yeah it's mad, was speaking to taxi drivers and they were saying it's essentially American money - lots of big corporates and investment going into Dublin = property prices going up = everything going up

Apparently there have been big waves of homelessness due to rent increases, which has in turn lead to an increase in petty crime.

It's the American way!

Paid £4.90 for a pint of Estrella this afternoon. Suffolk.

It's another week 'til his cheque comes through
He's got a fiver left now to spend on food
But the doors of the bars are open, and he breaks another rule
He sits on a stool that bears his name
He's got a favourite glass well it's called the same
He's never been kept waiting, 'cos he pays the landlord's wage

Been in two new (to me) Wetherspoons in the space of a week, the one in Penge (south London) and one in Huntington, Cambs.

I noticed they've put their drink prices up a little, a 660ml bottle of Elvis Juice is nearly £5 now. To be fair this is one of the most expensive drinks here.

You can still get a whiskey and coke for under £2.
