This might explain why my CPU kept overheating and shutting the system down.

Yup, fan speed was always ~3200 RPM, which is what made it so strange that it was shutting down. Wasn't until I found proper software to find that CPU was > 80c, causing system shutdown. All fixed now with no wires in the way and new spooge, all happy.That's epic. Did the CPU fan actually work?
