Tablet PC's have been around for ages - Microsoft were pushing them 8 years back or so, but perhaps the technology was just a little behind the idea (today we have better battery technology and better touchscreens). It's just Apple have the market recognition to make them cool and more desirable. This thing is basically a massive iPhone.
It's funny, watching Jake using one on the F1 show today, it so reminds me of Star Trek with their tablet PC's. Just give Jake some spock ears and he would have looked perfect!

Fully charged my iPad last night, it was 99% this morning and now 41% as I type! Either I'm using it too much or the battery in mine isn't as good as others? Reckon it's been on web browsing or gaming for 4hrs, thought it'd be more still. Maybe I had odd expectations of it after the hype!
Got mine yesterday from the MK Apple Store, I only intended to get the 3G 32GB version but they didn't have any so buckled and bought the 3G 64GB instead. Bought the camera connection kit but skipped the case as the price was already scaring me!!
Really like it so far, it is a little heavier than expected but it's acceptable and when I'm using it for watching videos or surfing the web there's no major heat issues like the MacBook Pro and I don't have to worry about blocking the fans.
So far apps have been pretty good a lot at the moment seem to just be modified iPhone apps with the menu on the left and the main screen on the right, do like the EverNote app tho.
Have found a couple of websites that don't work correctly in Safari the Nationwide online banking site being the Most annoying so far.

how long do you expect a battrey to last ? , tell you what try playing games on a laptop with wifi on see how long it lasts?

As of yesterday Sheffield had only 64gb wifi and 64gb 3G. I think they did have some 32gb wifi in too but rest were sold out.... I got myself a 64gb 3G love it
