How do things work with Apple? Will OS 4, when released for the iPad, be at extra cost?

Several years ago I had an iPod Touch and had to spend a fiver, or something, on a software update to get access to the App Store.

On my iPhone I use Apple's Remote App for controlling iTunes, and I've got it on my iPad too. But its designed for the iPhone, so the resolution looks naff on the iPad....

Anyone know of an iPad optimised iTunes remote app?

People picked apart the terms and conditions. It *looks* like iPad's will get OS 4 for free and then OS 5 will be pay for. This, however, is purely speculation.

So whats the crack with this then? I've not really read about it. Just see that Jake Humphreys (F1 TV/BBC) has one. It looks great :)

Whats the price/cost etc?

hmmm, can I ask if anyone has noticed anything slightly unusual with the WIRED magazine app (I'm not sure if this has to do with the fact that it was originally in Adobe Air).

If I open the Wired app, watch one of the video clips, then hit the home key and reopen the app - I lose the ability to watch the video content. This loss seems to persist to some other apps also.
i.e. if I open the Wired app, watch a video, hit the home key, and then try to watch a video in the Guardian Eyewitness app, it no longer works...

Bug?

Can someone post normal pics of them using their ipad

under store conditions or the photoshoped ones on sites you dont get a real impression of it.

Just got back from a mates house where i showed the iPad off. Air Video did a great job of streaming from my computer at home and I could see from the look on my mates face he wants one.

As long as you had a decent connection, or a realistic bitrate, then I can;t see a reason why you couldn't watch vids from your home PC in the UK whilst your in Australia (unless there's something I don't know about).

guys i need help, i just installed air video and its awesome, the only problem is i need to disable the firewall so it can connect to the pc

I use Eset smart security, does anyone know how to get around it?

Yes, Beejive IM for iPad but it's not free

Bit annoyed about that really - I bought the iPhone version ages ago and they've released the iPad app separately, so if I want a proper version for my iPad I need to pay again... Most other apps (e.g. Colloquy) give you the iPhone and iPad version in one go.

This is my gripe atm about software for the iPhone/Pad.

In one respect, it is fair because I suppose you could liken it to buying software for a laptop/PC compared to that of your Windows Mobile device for example. I.e. both versions are different.

But in the other respect, its like paying for the software twice.

RealVNCs software is both iPhone and iPad. I.e. you buy either version you get both.

But GoodReader and Beejive as above, seem separate.
