The All New Desktop Thread, Images No Larger Than 800x600

I think they're both good shots but the wallpaper on the second is a little dark I think. Maybe lighten it a bit?? It could just be my eyes though cuz I'm using a light blue wall I made so everything looks darker to me!

As quite a lot of us on here are most likely to be fps/benchmark whores, why do so many of you have these 'works of art' desktops? I always thought that (and was told) if you use all these arty themes and wallpapers then it has effect on your performance?

Also how the hell do I remove the Recycle Bin icon from my desktop?

I couldn't care less about performance really lol! In games I don't notice a difference between having everything themed and not. The only time it really makes a difference is if you're using objectbar, object dock, avedesk etc etc as those programs use up ram. But if you have 1Gb of ram then not even that makes a huge difference really. At the end of the day the difference is marginal and I prefer to look at something that's nice on the eye than a dull grey theme with a single colour background :)
Oh and this is my pc spec since it's not in my sig

AMD 64 3800, 1Gb OCZ EB Ram, Neo2 Platinum, X800XT PE, Audigy2 ZS, 74Gb raptor, 160gb lacie external, DVD-RW, 17' Hyundai Q17+

I just make a .bat file to kill all the pretty desktop stuff before playing a game, then another to start them back up again
Although it probably doesn't make much difference as most of these program only use a few mb of ram tops, although things like Samurize which I won't use as I find it quite a hog(big scripts) use quite a bit of ram and CPU time

The Aston shell is less demanding then the standard Windows XP

Nicely clean and simple for me. Nothing to do with my lack of Samurize skills :p

Basically I use taskkill

Such as this for Avedesk

PHP:
taskkill /IM avedesk.exe

Type taskkill /? for more commands in the command window

To start a program just put the address to the .exe in the .bat file

c:\windows\system32\avedesk.lnk

For my Avedesk

You can stop services with NET STOP

Such as

NET STOP "Windows User Mode Driver Framework"

For example
and net start to start services

Put it all in a text file in notepad etc and save it as a .bat file

Rookie,

The clock is actually the internet icon from the pack dru posted, using object doc i used it as the back ground icon, the control panel icon is from a complete mac setup called flyakite osx, it makes ya pc look like a total mac and is of very high quality.

flyakite problem - i cant seem to open MSN, can sign in etc but cant actually open main window, nothing happens when i click open messenger
