How did some of you guys get movies to run in a small window whilst taking screenies, all I've ever got is an ugly black box (VLC, Windows Media player etc)

VLC has a snapshot tool.

Tools->Advanced Controls

Adds a camera icon to the bottom, works fine and captures in .png format.

Sorry, I didn't mean screenshots form actual movies I meant whilst pressing PrtScn to grab a shot of your desktop - whilst VLC was playing something in a mini window, it just shows a black box like below

It's because you're using XP.

XP uses overlays to display movies which aren't picked up by screenshots.

Vista and Windows 7 render them as textures as part of the desktop compositor, so print screen can pick it up.

It wouldn't work on Vista without Aero either.

not sure why photobucket is making it come up so small but oh wells
im stuck between this and several wallpapers of Eliza Dushku

Yeah rainmeter is pretty easy to use, though i am using Windows 7 64x, so im not sure about Vista

Thanks to SimonC for the rainmeter, I have made a few tweaks to it as you can see (I have four cores )

Just wish i could get GPU useage and Temp
