Yeah, download TweakUI (Microsoft Power Toy) it has lots of hidden settings to alter, and it'll allow you to remove all shortcut arrows from shortcuts.

Thanks for the help guys, I actualy have Tweak UI already installed but never bothered to take a look at anything not in the optimzation guide i was using.

Must say everything looks much better without the arrows, it's one of those small things that always irritated me.

Object dock is the program you are after. Its totally free.

Icons are from deviantart if you go to the object dock section you will find it on a couple of pages in. Not sure what they are call tho, sorry

you should right click the desktop, select "arrange icons by" and untick the option "show desktop icons" to get rid of that recycle bin. spoils it imho. :)
