Well, well, what to say, what to do. Quite baffled as to what to do at the moment regarding my setup. Had my Benq freesync screen for quite a while now. amazing screen, a real thing of beauty playing games. My 7950 crossfire been excellent at keeping the frames well up there at the higher ranges that this screen yearns for, but here is the dilemma. Not been able to see freesync yet because the 7950 is not supported, been waiting and waiting for this FURY X, now it's here I'm just not sold on it. Performance at 1440p seems quite meh, regarding its numbers my aging cards gets pretty much where the Fury X sits (when crossfire bloody works that is). I've been so pumped to get a beast of a high end single card that's going to give me 50% more performance than my 7950 crossfire and finally freesync. Sadly the Fury X looks like a pretty expensive upgrade for what you get at 1440p.

So where the hell do I go from here. Man the 980ti G1 is incredibly tempting, but I want to see freesync in all its glory. Do I buy a 390x to see me through till hbm2/early next year and use freesync at 45fps lol or do I just keep on rolling this 7950 crossfire setup for another 6 months putting up with shoddy AMD drivers with no crossfire support in new games.

Boy o boy, got money saved up and all, feel bit bummed by fury X in all honesty.

You know my views already.

Even the bot is thinking about changing sides, that says a lot!

Tony, as you know I have a XL2730Z.

After seeing the benchmarks of the fury x i have sold up and now moving to a 980Ti and Gsync. I think I would rather pay that bit more and have something that seems to just work better, by that I mean everything as a whole, drivers, support, quality etc.

If I were you I'd get a 290(X) or 390(X), used or new. About the same performance as your xfire 7950s, maybe slightly slower, but you get Freesync and don't need to buy a new monitor as well.

There are a whole raft of Freesync monitors incomming and they are far cheaper than any of the G-Synv ones:
https://pcmonitors.info/aoc/aoc-g2460pf-and-g2770pf-freesync-gaming-models/

Those two AOCs are £230 to £280.

There are some new Samsung 4K PLS one being released for under £400:
http://techreport.com/news/28512/samsung-freesync-4k-displays-are-eminently-affordable

That should be around £300 to £350.

I have been critical of Fury X too but the E-PEEN hysteria is hilarious though - cheaper cards like the upcoming Fury will probably be around GTX980 level or a bit faster and the R9 380 and above and the r9 290 series will support Freesync. Why the hysteria is funny is if Nvidia make a screw up themselves in anyway in the next year or two, people are back to square one.
But I would expect the same tired arguments since 2003 to start again.

i thought the new certified drivers next months supports 7950 xfire with freesync? I might be wrong but might be worth waiting a little while.

pick up a r9 295x2 cheap enuf now?

if i was going to go green i would just use the screen without being able to use freesync you would lose a tonne of money selling that screen

do you ever get tears that bad?

i dont know it may be just my eyes but i think it all looks darn good anyhow with or with out freesync

i may be biased as i have 295 and said screen lol

the betas are freesync

unless its just a tick box that does nothing??

my screen also wants to know if i want to use freesync

The situation is really simple, you wait for the 14 of July when the air cooled $550 Fury comes out and buy that.

Its what I am doing.
Fury X is a Halo product so I am waiting for the Fury

Thx for replies guys.

I know going gsync and G1 is the better option, but this freesync screen is incredible, and sticking with what I have is so much less of a Ball ache. I'm just caught right inbetween at the minute.

I switched months ago when I had a feeling crossfire freesync would take a while, never looked back.

Using a TX and a ROG Swift, 980ti and a Swift will be the exact same experience pretty much.

It seems like a hassle but when you can just book couriers to collect and deliver things to your door it's not exactly hard work.

But by the time you ditch the parts you have now,it makes it an expensive move. Plus if Nvidia has a meh generation at some point in the next two years, you will be back to sqaure one. Not saying they will though OFC.

It might be worth looking at how the cheaper Fury looks like on the 14th or would a cheap secondhand R9 290/R9 290X be able to tide you over,if you sell the HD7950 cards?? I doubt there will be much cost involved and it does support Freesync.

Having used FS first hand, you havent yet T, all I can say is if you were using a fury with FS, are you going to notice a real world difference with a 980ti/Gsync?

That should be the question asked...

I'll say no you won't.

If and only if, you didn't already have a FS monitor, then it would be a different story.
