The AMD Driver Thread

New Driver is not so good for my 7900xtx... Getting seriously bad frame drops in WoW and a couple of games.

EDIT: Went back to 25.3.1 and everything is smooth again and I made sure that 25.4.1 was installed after DDU.
I wouldn't DDU unless you don't have any other options left and if you absolutely want to then uninstall the drivers normally first. Reason being that sometimes things go wrong with DDU, atleast that has been my experience from time to time.

Uninstall the AMD Install manager and it is back to what is was before.
Just did that and it now will show optional updates.
Still won't recognise that there are newer drivers though, says I'm 'up to date' on 25.3.2 after I've clicked check for updates, so I have to do a manual install.
@AMD_Vik Adrenalin won't let you update to optional drivers from within adrenalin, with recommended and optional ticked. It doesn't recognise them on check for updates

This will be changed in the future as far as I'm aware.

I'm having an issue at the minute where every time I try to play Call of Duty Black Ops 6 on my 7900 XT I get a driver crash as soon as a match begins.
First the game crashed, then then drivers crashes (or maybe this happens at the same time) and then more often than not a minute or two later I get a blue screen crash with DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE.

I don't see anything obvious in event viewer other than a few messages about windows not being shut down cleanly (due to the crash).

I've updated to the latest drivers, the game is up to date and I've tried repairing the game files.

It doesn't seem to crash in the menus or while running the benchmark but as soon as the map load it crashes.

Anyone know how to fix this or what I can try to make down the cause?

Have you got any form of undervolt/OC in place on the 7900XT?

I'd put everything to stock and see how it goes!
Might be worth a shot. I recently got my 7900 XT replaced under RMA so this is a new (well B Grade) card and I was just applying my old undervolt as it was very big (1100mv -> 1050mv).

Also, @AMD_Vik is there any chance we'll see a fix for VRAM running at full speed at idle if two monitors are run at different refresh rates or is that a hardware limitation (I know my Nvidia cards work fine with different resolutions/refresh rates)?

Has CoD BO6 had any updates recently that might have caused it? Is it played via Steam, perhaps also do a game file integrity check if so? :)

this isn't a generic issue - it's always contingent on the display hw in use. idling low depends on two key factors; vertical blanking interval and total bandwidth.

On RDNA3 and up, FreeSync Power Optimisations can help with dual-display mclk idle provided that FS / VRR is enabled on both connected displays.

mmmm do you get a sound loop as well or just straight to blue screen ?

Don't think there's been any updates that correlate to my issues starting. It's via XBOX app (playing it via GamePass). I've verified the files after each crash.

That's interesting. I've been using a DP-to-HDMI cable to connect to one monitor, partly because I'm using one HDMI port for the other monitor and AMD don't like running both HDMI ports at full bandwidth and partly (and arguably more significantly) because my old 7900 XT had a broken HDMI port. The DP-to-HDMI doesn't allow FS/VRR, but I'm wondering, if I now use the other HDMI port, can I run it at 4K/60Hz with full RGB rather than 4k/120Hz with 4:2:0?

Blue screen doesn't happen 100% of the time (it happened all but one time), when it does happen it usually takes a few minutes. Just when I think everything recovered, blam! blue screen. No sound loop that I noticed, but at the time I've usually just been on the Windows Desktop so there wasn't and sound to hear.

This AMD Driver Manager thing... every few days it pops up with a new Chip-Set driver system restart request, i click on restart and its fine until it pops up again a few days later with the same thing, and repeat.... repeat..... inflate loop of it making the same request every few days.

This is the sort of thing why people keep brining up "AMD bad Drivers" This stuff clearly needs more Q&A before its released.

Is it a Sapphire Pulse model? Can you please check the serial number? Does it end with 3694? Just a hunch...
