The AMD Driver Thread

How sad that once again AMD manages to snatch defeat from the jaws of success, and again fail to manage their customers' expectations.

They would have been better keeping quiet about the driver release date instead of hyping everyone up to a frenzy only to let everyone down. They just never seem to learn, and even a great driver release this time around will now leave a bad taste in the mouth of customers because of AMD's failure to deal with their customers properly.

Been attempting to play the dying light I bought last night in anticipation and oh god it's bad but I'm hours in now and feel I've ruined a great game by playing it in crossfire. Its a shame 1440p and 1080p dont look anything like as good as native monitors on a 4k samsung.

We struggle on

Maybe this is why they are usually so quiet about everything.

Either we want AMD to be less communicative or accept that if they give us dates and targets they may miss them.

We can't have it both ways.

Personally i prefer AMD to be more communicative, even if that means sometimes they miss the targets they give us.

It's possible to be communicative AND reliable though, maybe now that AMD owners have reached a point where they are actually criticising AMD (opposed to defending them tooth and nail) AMD will be forced to act and actually improve.

All AMD need to do is go back to what they did last year as the drivers were pretty much spot on and the year ended with the omega's. On the other hand the Nvidia driver thread was full of complaints. I hope this turns out to be a one of and normal service is resumed.

They need to be less honest about time scales, don't publish dates that are right upto the hour of internal expectations, always add a chunk on top of your expectations for public consumption because invariably with software things go wrong, things that you can never foresee.

There's people on guru3d claiming they've seen 15-20 fps jumps in some games using a single card with the press driver. I seem to see the same posts every driver release as well lol, their single 290's should now be running games at 200fps :p
