would have helped if you had quoted that one instead of Matt's post first :p

AMD WHQL drivers launch date confirmed....February 30!....100% guaranteed!

Enjoy.

My 290x Lightning crossfire is waiting for them.

I expect freesync drivers for my crossfire one month later on March 32, maybe.

VSR 4K not confirmed for crossfire 290x or 295x2 "upgrade" to 285 needed.

What issue is it? Can you elaborate?

Is it when using Multi-monitors in games? Or anyone that has more than one monitor connected?

It seems to be confined to a small number of people using 290s in crossfire, but essentially having a second display enabled causes raised DPC latency, which becomes extremely bad when enabling vsync with audio popping and crackling. You can test if it affects you by running latencymon while gaming.

In advance of my, new to me, 7970 I've done some benchmarking this afternoon and jeez crossfire is a busted flush. The scaling is just terrible, either AMD take multi Gpu seriously or they dont?

Just Cause 2
Dirt 3
Grid Autosport
Tomb Raider
F1 2013
Batman AA

Grid actually performs worse with CF enabled, as does F1. No impact what so ever with Batman either

Nice one, cheers.

I've got Just Cause 2, but not played it since I got my 2nd 290X. I'll try to give it a go this evening.

I know the scaling on Tomb Raider is excellent, particularly at higher resolutions / detail. There's a bench thread for Tomb Raider, so you can see if you're getting roughly what you should.

WARNING to Win 7 users and the press driver.

I tried it and it deactivated my Windows 7 64 bit license key. Had a ballache to reactivate it and now i have a startup in ccleaner called *LABAL* and thats all it shows, no other info on it AT ALL.

Guess im gona have to install Windows again or use my backup image unless someone knows what that startup is, i installed Radeon Pro yesterday so i dont know if it has something to do with that... anyone?

I downloaded the press driver from the Battlefield thread FYI.

Comp seems to be running ok atm but im never gona download an AMD driver from anywhere but AMD's site.. ever again

No worries, im trying not to come across as a troll because I'll always buy AMD, and agree ref Tomb Raider, but just expected perhaps 60% scaling on "most" games?

Or is that a lolz worthy statement?

Edit: Unigine Valley also scales really well....but im wary of synthetic bench's because ultimately i don't believe AMD put that type of "effort" into a typical game optimization.

Maybe this is why they are usually so quiet about everything.

Either we want AMD to be less communicative or accept that if they give us dates and targets they may miss them.

We can't have it both ways.

Personally i prefer AMD to be more communicative, even if that means sometimes they miss the targets they give us.

They are not quiet though. They do hype, delay, promises, hype, delay, more promises, extra hype, then a couple of hours past release time, it's more delay again. Then you've still got their social media accounts hyping the drivers that have been delayed and pointing to non-existent download pages. ****-up and breweries come to mind, and this isn't the first time.

There's something wrong when you've been delaying for months, breaking promises, and a few hours before the hyped release time, you still don't know if you are going to ship on time. Better not to make promises at all than to make promises and break them.

Any company wants their customers on their side, not grumpy and annoyed by the above behaviour, threatening to go to a competitor product, and generally feeling unhappy towards the company, all of which we've seen in this thread, let alone other threads at tech sites around the web.

Please AMD, get your act together.
