The AMD Driver Thread

Yeah FarCry 4 is still stuttery im not blaming drivers as it could be Ubisoft i only installed and tried again as i was thinking about getting the DLC.
A joke how long has it been out! They have lost a customer.

If anyone has a solution to this I would be made up:

Much as I love my 295x2|290x Crossfire setup, it hasn't been playing terribly nice for me recently and it's not a fault with the cards (which I can't fault) but may be down to drivers/Eyefinity.

My setup is this:

27" AOC 2770 PQU (1440p) - Primary desktop - Connected via DisplayPort
58" Panasonic AX802B (2160p) - Main screen whilst gaming - Connected via DisplayPort

Because I use HDMI audio from the PC, the system always detects my A/V Receiver as a 1080p display, thanks to something called ARC (audio return channel) which passthrough the signal to the TV (and vice versa). I believe this is what is causing me the headache. (Actually it uses the DVI -> HDMI adapter that comes with the 295x2)

Eyefinity setup:

1) Often if the TV/Receiver are powered on after the PC, it'll give me this warning

What this does, is disable my playback device, like so:

Which means I have to restart the PC completely to get audio out of the AV Receiver again. Annoying, but not the end of the World.

2) This is the real deal breaker....Whenever I enable VSYNC in a game, whether it's DX11 or Mantle, the game crashes to desktop. Again I think it's a software issue and might be related to the Eyefinity setup but I've tried to get to the bottom of it and not had much luck. It's not been a huge issue until recently because I tended to play with VSYNC off, but Far Cry 4 does seem to perform much better with Triple Buffered VSYNC enabled.

I know it's not a hardware issue as I also happen to have a spare PC which is a Mini ITX that I keep in the bedroom. It's still more powerful than most though and has a Haswell 4770k @ 4.5Ghz + Palit Jetstream GTX 980.

So I thought I would test it out on the same screen/AV setup as my Haswell-E AMD system and lo and behold, no issues.

No problems powering the TV/Receiver after the PC. No problems running VSYNC. I actually played Far Cry 4 on it at 2160p/Ultra with Nvidia Gameworks enabled and it was playable (though more in the 30fps area).

The only difference being that the TV is connected to the 980GTX with HDMI 2.0 rather than DisplayPort.

Its the same if you have just one screen and a tv. My wifes set up is a Iiyama Prolite E2407HDSD connected to dvi and a Sony 40" Tv connected dvi to hdmi.

If the pc is on first then the warning comes up when the tv it swapped to the hdmi port of the pc connection.

If the tv is on first then the pc is turned on then most of the time the sound is ok.

Her graphics card is a 7850

I dont remember when its been any different.

The VSR mod on Guru3D works great for me. FC4 runs in 1440p surprisingly well. Scaling seems a bit off though, won't use more than 50% of either GPU. Ubisoft i guess. :D

Anti-aliasing won't work at all for me on any setting. FPS drops insanely low.
