The AMD Driver Thread

how stable is it? worth running my gaming rig on it?

Pretty good, i have tested BF4 and other games on it, no problems...
All in all it seems as stable as win 8.1.
But, on the first install it sent my computer funny, it BSOD and the wouldn't make it past the BIOS post, i thought i had done some damadge to it. took me hours to get it going again.

Its not happened since but i'm pretty sure win10 caused it.

DX performance is around the same.
Mantle was around the same in BF4.
But in StarSwarm i got a huge boost with Mantle in Win10.

all testing so far with 9926, we are now on 10041 or something like that... i'm testing that build from now on.

Very interesting, DX12 is extremely close to Mantle which is great news. :D

I guess the slight variation between our figures (you have higher multi thread and Mantle scores. I have higher single thread score) is due to the number of GPU's in the systems?

Better to use same GPU but different CPUs. The results will be more accurate.

Btw very interesting how the API Overhead scores for a 960 OC (~1500mhz) is nearly on par with a GTX980 (stock).

Yes that's true. Its humbugs DX12 results I was very interested in and it appears to be very healthy, I look forward to how it will improve games in the future. :)

If you have Turbo Core on on your 9590 it will explain your higher score as it will be boosting to 5Ghz.

I ran it again in Win8.1
Clearly there is a significant performance difference with Mantle Win8.1 vs Win10

About the same as you ^^^ :)

Your maths are wrong humbug, it's 1750% and 1700%

your right. i got the desimal points wrong...

Older system here.. [email protected] & 7950@1100/1600 (full spec in sig)

DX11 Multi-threaded draw calls per second 914065
DX11 Single-threaded draw calls per second 943317
DX12 draw calls per second 0.0
Mantle draw calls per second 12667814

Thinking i might install Win 10 on my second SSD, been planning on doing this for a few months anyway, now may be the time :)

I really hope dx12 gets adopted soon. Hopefully it'll mean less work for the AMD driver guy and better support from devs as it'll favour both camps, and we'll all be able to max out the draw distance slider.

Good job mate, the Win 10 results compared to Win 8.1 is a significant increase across the board in DX11 and Mantle so it must be a more efficient OS, then with DX12 added to the mix I am really looking forward to the release of Windows 10! :D

Thanks again for your testing. :)

Matt, any idea if AMD's got access to W3 to get it ready for release(hint hint, mgpu profile in the works), or will AMD only be getting access after release?

Just bought it for a tenner, wasn't going to purchase this one due to GW's running like crap on AMD(and never got into W2) , but paid CDP less for less working features.:p

Was gona try Win 10 but it seems to be a massive ballache just to instsll the damn thing, nothing but cant find device drivers.. cant create partition.. cant locate device.. blah blah fn blah. jeesh ive had enough already.. You would think MS would actually make this **** easy to install, but nooooooo.

Im done.. rant over.

User error.

Windows 10 has been nigh on perfect (For me) since its original preview.
I've had it on a Surface 3, an Ultrabook and my main PC.

This is getting a bit ridiculous now, the new beta drivers still have no option to enable or disable xfire... I literally have to use 13.9 to have any xfire functionality.

Maybe it's a ploy by a mole inside AMD from Nvidia sabotaging or holding driver progress back.

Or they're just waiting for the 300 series to release so then they can release a feature packed driver :)
