The AMD Driver Thread

It works if you set 3K on desktop first before launching(easier to leave CCC window open to change the desktop back), it does look amazing.

Nice one. Cheers. Will give it a go this evening. :)

I bet it still runs great, too. An example that a great looking game is about artistry as much as it is pushing massive textures and fancy effects.

My Dell is 1920x1200 so the highest res. I could upscale to is 2560x1600.
How much performance hit would I see in games?(dark souls 2,divinity orginal sin)
When using VRS,vram usage also goes higher?

i don't know exactly, and i don't think its an exact science, its also Game dependant.

Is it a 290? i find mine does surprisingly well at 1440P vs 1080P, there is a significant performance hit but not as much as i thought there would be, the 290's are more geared for hight res or a more demanding render, they seem to come into their own when higher demands are asked of them.

Just experiment... the worst that will happen is you have to reduce it again or play with IQ settings. :)

R9 290x.
I should have two next week, but I'm not sure if I keep both(we'll see if next driver change that).
So what you saying is you have 1920x1080 monitor, and you upscale picture to 1440p or you own 1440p where 290 shine more?

I'd like to use VSR with my 290X wanting to upgrade from my 1080p monitor but going to hold out until prices are a little more reasonable.

Do I require the Beta drivers?
How do I force it in games?

Could someone provide me some guidance on where to start? :)

omega drivers
you just check the box in CCC
you then get extra res options in most games
its pretty seamless when ive tried it

dont ask me where the box is tho its hidden in there somewhere lol

So not every game works with VSR?
Any example?

mostly obscure ones, i dont think hunniepop does lol
dont starve does tho and that looks pretty sweet
im more surprised the amount it does work with

I don't particularly want it upscaling my 4k resolution even higher!

lol nah i just meant the CCC box should be checked by default if its not, you dont have to use the options ingame but they are nice to have

Even h1z1 uses VSR by default. It works great, never ran into a problem, only thing is I would move the "turn off/on" option somewhere more intuitive/easy to find. Maybe right click tray icon? Keep it in the flat panel page in CCC as well, so people can read what it does.
