The AMD Driver Thread

I had some issues that were caused by afterburner such as only one fan spinning and the zero fan tech not working.

Had a play with wattman and able to overclock the 480 to 1400 Mhz at stock voltage which I am happy with.

The latest driver seems pretty stable so far.

There's something weird going on with Freesync, I've just bought Steep (another Ubisoft game) and Freesync works perfectly fine on it with the latest drivers (17.1.1).

What is going on :o :(

Well i had to be more clear. When i said ubi titles i really meant: The Division, rainbow six siege and For Honor. Far Cry 4 worked fine though. I dont know if Freesync works in Steep on my system as I dont have that game.

Any issues with the latest AMD driver that means I shouldn't update to it?

Oddly I have been getting some crashes lately (after months of perfect stability). It appears to be to do with online video watching in firefox. I forget what the blue screen error message was but definitely video related.

According to AMD radeon settings I am on version 16.6?

I also have afterburner version 4.3.0 beta 14.

Sounds like you might have had your driver downgraded without you knowing cause 16.6 is quite old now.

But how do you connect to your monitor? cause i think there is a difference between HDMI freesync and DP freesync. DP freesync seems to be with fewer bugs.

I'm convinced of the same, having never used a freesync monitor until my current one, I wasn't too sure if it was working or not, then I tried the windmill demo - you could see the differences in the demo as you can actively change settings on the side and see the real time effect. All seems to work as described in windmill, but I'm not seeing the same in games
