The AMD Driver Thread

If you're using the Swift still then it's not going to do anything regarding refresh rates. I really feel that is in the hands of Asus tbh.

Hmmm, I was expecting the drivers to add support for 144Hz @ 1440P for a single GPU, so hopefully I can get things sorted my end. No biggie of not but the card will be with me a little longer than I expected (which will **** off my work mate) :D

That monitor uses non industry standard timings, unfortunately these particular timings don't work well with our graphics cards. However the FreeSync Acer and BenQ 144Hz displays will work perfectly at 144Hz with our new drivers, which launch tomorrow.

Yeah they will be adding it but if you're having problems even displaying 120Hz then I doubt with 144Hzz fixed that you'll be in a better position. It's usually stepping back in the refresh rates that stop that blacking out/flickering :(.

I know I'm overstepping my boundaries here as I've asked you this already but find a way to squeeze in the VG278H and view 120/144Hz that way, then you can tell your work mate how amazing the card is that he's not getting yet. :D Nah in seriousness it's merely so you can see the card for what it is in comparison to running 120/144Hz with your ex Titans. Otherwise you'll never know and your time with AMD has been less than stellar which I feel is slightly unfair due to it seemingly being a problems between Asus and AMD.

You kinda have a few days to kill with itchy fingers to get into the Titans so..... Get R done!.

Yeah I thought that with a user swapping ROG Swifts and on the third screen was able to maintain 120Hz. Completely a crap shoot if it works or not.

120hz is enough for me and I'm using a 144Hz capable screen so I'm not sure why not having 144Hz was a big deal to everyone?. Oh well at least it's fixed come tomorrow.

I'm trying to get Greg to use his Asus VG278H 120/144Hz screen to test so he can feel what it's like at a better refresh rate than he's experiencing on the Swift as it would be a crying shame to not get the best out of the 290X before it goes.

As long as he doesn't run the VG278H monitor in conjunction with a 1440p Monitor he'll be fine.

Black screen central.

I don't have the room anymore JD, or I would be running a pair of monitors for day today stuff :( And to be honest, I have got used to the tearing again, so no biggie. A shame though, as I was hoping to see what 144Hz at least was like on AMD.

Strange. I wonder if that's another issue with Asus?.

I was mainly wanting Greg to use with the single screen though. A few gaming sessions at 120Hz before he puts his new toys in.

I have the same monitor as him so know what to expect. On it's own with the 290X it's fine. AMD seem to struggle when mixing monitors with different refresh rates I'm finding. Losing signal etc!

Ah damn, well at least I tried :). You've been totally non-critical of the card but still, I'd have like you to have had a better time with it and the incompatibility with the Swift put a horrible block on that.

Maybe the 390X will persuade you over to a Freesync later on. You may say "never" but if I asked the majority of OCUK users if Gregster would be rocking a 290 in his system at some point would have that same answer... "never". Moral of the story?. Never say "never". :D

Ah I see. I used to have that screen also but got something else due to the backlight bleed being too much. I wonder if the new driver will sort these problems out?.

Or even "Never again" :p

Does anyone know if there will be PLP (Portrait Landscape Portrait) support for eyefinity in these drivers?

It apparently got supported last driver release, but only on the 285. A few forum posts seemed to suggest it didn't work?

Really hope it is released and works for the R290 series!

Hope so, but very much doubt it.
