The AMD Driver Thread

Link please kind sir :)

And no, Wccftech does not count!!:mad::mad:

:p:D

Even one amd staff don't count either. That is like saying Matt from here says it's fine so amd said it's fine.

Am sure the software is fine to use the point is they isn't any need to be usibg it anymore with 2020 drivers it's basically built in feature.

I can't remember where it was, may have been reddit, but they do say to use it, as some people have been having problems, while on isntalling the latest drivers.

Troubleshooting then I can see why they have asked some users to use to get them on a fresh install and rule out the driver to driver bugs. But its defo not a recommended thing all users should be following as I said above the 2020 driver basically has this DDU built-in.

I can't remember where it was, may have been reddit, but they do say to use it, as some people, havn't even been able to install the drivers, as they've been Black screening and all sorts while the installer was running.
Sorry but someone possibly linked to AMD saying it on reddit is not the same as it being on their support page or on the driver UI itself. It's a hidden option in the installer which says to me its not necessary. I have installed over existing drivers for more years than i care to remember and not had any issues. Until recently the only time i would have done a complete removal was when switching between vendor cards. I think folks are clutching at straws now with all the niggly issues that have arisen in the last 8 months. It's another one of these opinion pieces that becomes fact once it's circulated enough times

I already know that though. But your shades are so red that you do not want to see anything else ;)
Not a good rebuttal to your own strawman:
But listening to you and Panos one would think there was nothing to fix
But at least you admit it was a lie.

However, lets be clear here on what it is that made you say that in the 1st place (link below):

But wait, there was a follow up to this:
Looking at forums, this has been an issue for Nvidia cards for a long time now. So good to finally have it fixed. Look at some of those other fixes as well. To say that Nvidia doesn't have issues with their drivers is misinformed to say the least. I'm obviously happy they fixed it for Apex though, as this is the main game I play at the moment.

However, there is one bit of additional information I want to point you to that was posted today:
Well, I just narrowed my 5700XT instability to the use of riser card on my new case (RVZ03) and outside of one time the Radeon software crashed because of accidental power reset, all is good. However I do wonder why they recommend to disable enhanced sync. Oh well...

Well let's try one more shall we? These individuals don't have issues. With more in our 5700xt thread. And like me use to have blackscreen issues with the older Adrenalin driver last year but since then haven't:
My Vega 64 system had the black screen issue only during the first 8 minutes or so after initial post but... only on the original adrenalin release. Every subsequent update I didn't have an issue with. On my 5700xt system never experienced it whatsoever.

That is the majority of 5700 series owners, they haven't experienced any such issues.

So no, it's not about your name calling. It's about looking at the situation in it's entirety. It's not hard to refute your post(s). And because I own a 5700xt doesn't mean I can't see anything else. As exampled above the whole sitution isn't as black and white, with a sprinkle of strawman, as you try to make it to be. :p <--I hope you don't take the green smiley to now mean I have green shades now. ;)

Oh, so I won. :p

Any hoot, I've noticed that with 20.2.2 the GPU frequency is within 0-10Mhz or so now!! I'm impressed with this. Having a blast in a few games. I gotta get use to actually seeing a "more" stablized Mhz now. I'm not sure if I want to re-install MSI Afterburner or leave uninstalled. Because I want to actually see the hardware monitor show a stable GPU Frequency line, LOL.

Amd mentions ddu here btw, hopefully official enough. Only posting as loadsa said they said you can use it, this isnt where ltmatt (i think he recommended it somewhere) to use it but this should be close enough.

It does mention DDU there but that article is from 2016 and also the title reads 'Troubleshooting Common AMD Graphics Driver Installation Problems', not 'How To Upgrade To The Latest Driver Release'

:p

AMD Cleanup Utility

https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-601

Overview
The AMD Cleanup Utility is designed to thoroughly remove any previously installed AMD driver files, registries, and driver store from systems running Microsoft Windows® 7 and later. The cleanup process includes removing AMD display and audio drivers as well as AMD software components but does not remove AMD chipset driver components such as GPIO, SATA, USB, etc.

The AMD Cleanup Utility helps to prepare the system for a successful driver installation but should only be used if the normal uninstall procedure using the Windows Control Panel’s Programs and Features option was unsuccessful.

Its usually in the Bin folder in the GPU driver installation folder.

You won? You won what? All my points stand. I just did not get what you was rambling on about and asked for you to clarify.

My point was you and Panos make it sound like all the issues AMD are having are caused by other people. An example being McBainz. He ran AMD cards fine for 10 years but as soon as he had issues recently and switched you guys made it sound like it was because of his own fault. But you know, he managed fine for 10 years? Maybe it was an AMD fault?

Just look at how many issues AMD just fixed. loads and there still many. Stop trying to make it sound like things are so rosy at AMD. Stop trying to deflect and point at Nvidia. This is an AMD driver thread.

Yea so you won nothing. Quite the opposite as far as I am concerned. You keep digging ;)
