The AMD Driver Thread

Cheers for the help, mobo is Tomahawk Max B450. I went manual timings after the first time it didn't post at 3600mhz. Ram volts don't seem to be the issue, 1.35v - 1.5v makes no difference. The only thing I have been able to figure which affects whether the machine POSTs or not are the VDDG/VDDP/SOC voltages. I'm sure it's fine, just needed more volts.

problem with these xmp profiles are, the cad bus, rtt settings and so on wont be changed (it may or may not be right for the different dimms) and thats the reason why so many got problems with that

What's a good Video Bit Rate for high quality recording in OBS? i cranked it up to 50,000 Kbps and that seemed to go fine but then i played it back.... its corrupted :D

Any advice of getting a nice clean sharp recording from OBS?

So personally with AMF if I am setting it manually, 85Mbs at 1440p 60 FPS.

If you are recording 1080p 60 FPS, then 60 Mbs should be fine.

However I use a preset.

On output,

I still use the x264 codec,

preset is just high quality.

quality preset is just balanced.

In the video options,

I make sure I record at my native resolution with 60 FPS.

My recording format is MP4, but pick what ever you use to edit with.

My editting software can be picky on format.

Like I said, OBS can be janky despite all the options it provides, like its very advanced, its not seemingly designed to record locally as the whole interface is very streamer based (well its in the name haha).

Sometimes I get janky footage from OBS but this seems to be dependant on the driver installed time to time, come on AMD, start investing some serious money into the software now.

Noticed that my fan behaviour has changed since I'm now pushing my R VII using freesync (or maybe due to using later drivers?). The fans often jump up in speed noticeably, then slowly drop down again, then a speed up etc - results in a saw tooth like pattern on hwinfo monitoring graph. Once I stop gaming the fans slowly and gradually reduce in speed down to idle.

If I manually adjust fan settings in amd control panel to 100% and apply, then put back to normal settings and apply the fans stay at 100% for a bit then again they gradually and steadily slow down in speed back to idle.

It's the sudden jump ups that are noticeable - if they were more gradual like the slow downs it wouldn't be so bad.

just had a black screen with latest drivers all i was doing was using firefox and i have it's hardware acceleration disabled, had to reboot whole comp, apart from that the drivers have been decent lately.

I have found web browsers to be very sensitive to overclocked RAM, have you overclocked RAM? The only black screens I have had happened when I OCed my RAM too high, after reducing the OC the PC has been very stable and not had any black screens since.

Personally had 2 full system lockups with these new drivers, Usually fixes itself after about a minute.

I think windows has a bigger part to play than is thought as they are constantly changing it unlike the previous model where a new OS name came in cycle.

I would reinstall the driver and remember to use factory reset and don't keep user settings.

Seem ok in x4 so far, the new whql ones for me. I didnt use ddu this time as got some game profiles but moving from 20.2.2 whql to these new whql ones seems to have gone through ok, so far.
