The AMD Driver Thread

Pulled the Cooler off again, the top of the die had a very thin layer (Almost none) in the middle with a thicker layer around the edge, i don't think the cold plate on the cooler is completely flat.

Reapplied, spread it out... put the cooler back on, Edge Temps are still around ~70c with the junction Temps back down to ~95c, so from a 45c Delta back to a 25c Delta.

Lets see how long it lasts.
I might try this aswell. My junction temps are +30c higher too, albeit I'm running the card at 2100mhz with 1190mv and 50% power. It's getting darn close to 110c when I was looping 3d mark

@Raelgun I've been running the latest everything, well except the GPU drivers, but it doesn't matter a bad one is bound to be released once in a while. I'm not fuzzed about it. Most driver releases have been good so I'll manage. Also, I don't use Enhanced sync.

Just got a black screen crash on my Radeon VII. Updated to the latest drivers a few hours ago. Anyone else having this?

AMD fixed the back screen bug for me back in May, and it's been plain sailing since then - hopefully these drivers haven't been broken again!

I would consider rolling back to the previous one you had good luck with... My Vega card didn't like these news ones either.,

So, new windows install, everything set up as I want it, I hop into CS:GO for some mindless fun and after 30 minutes games start to lag, another 5 minutes and the game seems to crash along with the whole machine leading to a black screen and restart on its own... Just about to rain hellfire and brimstone on my GPU when a little text appears during boot "Updating your system"... and I knew... Microsoft has been at it again... ffing forced updates which I had forgotten to disable after reinstalling my OS this morning. How on earth is it possible for any developer to be this stupid... To think it is alright to shut down a machine that is in active use. Jeezus the incompetence over at MS is mindboggling.

And yet at the same time, if you're on slower hardware, MS think it's okay to let your machine go to sleep in the middle of doing updates, so you come back a few hours later and find the system is still not ready.

AMD need a forum for technical help.

If you post a technical support thread on r/amd its immediately gets locked by a mod bot, you're directed to a "Support Mega Thread" cluster crisis, in which your support request reply gets lost and buried, almost nothing in that thread gets a reply of any kind, it looks deliberate to bury any support requests.

That's not good enough.

There are the community support forums on AMD.com, you can log a bug report direct to them from within the AMD Radeon control panel, including an email address for a return contact, or can log a fault from their driver and support website on AMD.com. There's also a contact support form. Not sure what more you want as an end user, but I'm sure they do more if you're on their developer program.

Oh..... so i don't have to use that dreadful Reddit crap? Great... thank you :)

New driver seems stable but I've noticed the AMD OSD is still displaying far higher VRAM usage than is actually available on the 5700XT, Unless it's got a few GB of hidden memory :p

Also having issues with temperatures again, 20.8.3 (1.2v ~95c) seemed to have fixed them but on 20.9.1 anything over ~1.15v and the HotSpot climbs until it throttles and/or crashes, really want to know what the engineers are doing with the programming on these piece of s*** sensors... Shame, 20.9.1 seems one of the most stable revisions so far. And forget about setting PCI-E to gen4 in BIOS, it will near insta-crash any benchmark...

hhmmm.... i did wonder if it the drivers running the cards hotter, that performance gain... every action has an opposite and equal reaction.

Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.9.1 is terrible for me... 3 black screens over 2 days. The system is able to recover though, which would normally not be the case, however, any 3d applications have to be restarted. Going back to 20.7.2. Now it could be a windows update again but I cannot be bothered troubleshooting it so back I go :D.

B450 all 4 dimms allocated.
Vega 64
Windows 10 2004.
Running dual monitor(1440p,75hz, freesync on & 1080p,75hz, Freesync off)

I'm running Vega 64. Not had any issues at all with black screens or crashes for oooh... at least the last 5-6 releases now. I have Freesync on as well and using Windows 10 2004.

Now I did have DP problems ages ago and after messing with cables etc. I just went back to using HDMI. Never looked back.

So you would think if it's causing this issue with one persons Vega64 and not another Vega64 then it must be a system specific setting / setup / component causing the issue? So using @Phixsator as an example you are running two displays one with Freesync on and one with Freesync off, whereas I'm using one display with Freesync on via HDMI. So that would be the difference between us. Have you tried troubleshooting with one display? Are you DP or HDMI?

Tried 20.9.1, one of the 3 monitors kept going black - even when uninstalling the driver...no browser etc open, couldn't reset the driver. Revered to 20.5.1

Hi guys, I bought a 5700xt last month and warzone basically seems to suffer from micro stutters. Is they're a secret to getting it working?

I'm sitting at 150 plus fps in game with random pauses :(

3700 cpu & 16gb ram it's a pre build from ocuk, will find out what motherboard tomorrow. All my other games are fine just warzone seems to stutter.

I have 20.9.1 drivers for the graphics card, different video settings don't stop the stutter maxed or everything at low.
