The AMD Driver Thread

I am sad boi.
Upgraded from an rx580 to a 9070xt and I am getting crashes in almost all games now.
I did a full uninstall and wipe of gfx, reinstalled.
The i did a full windows reset including fresh gfx install
Still can't stop it, seems to happen at random, sometimes after several minutes of play, sometimes sooner.

Would prefer to avoid a full reinstall, but now no sure if thats going to be possible
Any suggestions?

If your on the latest driver try rolling back to 25.9.1 seems to be the most stable driver for me

I am getting a lot of issues with my saphhire 9070Xt Nitro +, where when I switch back to my pc which is connected via display port from my work laptop using the usbc connection I am finding i cannot get a signal on my monitor. The pc is up as I can hear notifications from emails being received in outlook etc. The only way to get the picture back is to hold the power button on my pc and then turn it on again. Has anyone come across this issue?

Try plugging your monitor into a different Display Port socket on your graphics card, that helped me when my monitor wouldn't wake from sleep (had to power cycle the monitor for it to wake up).

I will give that a go. As the issue seems to be getting worse. As it is now doing it when I try and wake the monitor up from sleep. I have the pc set to never sleep. Up to now it seemed to be related to switching inputs.

Now I have had to resort to the integrated graphics in my 9900x. When I look in device manager the 9070XT is not not showing :(
Doesn't sound good. Is the card seated ok in the board. Power cables all connected securely. Hopefully it doesn't require an RMA. Got a friend who can try it in their rig for you?

What's your PSU? Ta

Seasonic Prime Ultra Snow Silent 650W 80 Plus Platinum

edited this, its actually a 650, might that be the issue?
i've ran an OCCT stress test at full cpu plus gpu for an hour nothing getting to 70degrees, nothing throwing errors, but might it still be the cause?

It’s unlikely to be the PSU. You can set the power target to negative 30% in the performance tab. This will use significantly less power as a test.

I suspect you simply have a faulty GPU. Get it RMAd

If it would faulty would a gpu OOCT test not produce some errors? or is it purely based upon heat stress?

I'll look into the RMA process

It’s about ruling out the PSU by running a very low power profile. If it still causes problems after setting very low power limits of 210w then, it is very likely the GPU.

Do you get lock ups on other GPUs or when not gaming?

So I will be shot down for this, and yes try the RMA but if they find no fault I'd still be looking at the PSU and or a fresh windows install at least, as first port of call. I know people run these cards on 650W (against manufacturer gudience) but I still think that is too close to the wire depending on other PC components. I seem to recall AMD and reviewers stating 850W for this GPU. You are pulling 300W from the GPU alone when gaming, not factoring in any spikes. The 5900X is a 105W CPU I believe. Stress tests might not show transient spikes like gaming does. Not getting into the weeds but a Platinum PSU is at peak efficiency (92% iirc) when at 50% load. If you run it at 100% you are like 89% efficient. Why bother getting a Platinum PSU if efficiency isn't important. You're literally burning watts for now reason. Extra heat, fans run longer, more fan noise and overall a reduced PSU lifespan. That's why I always suggest 1000-1200W. You're getting longevity for future upgrades and running the PSU in the sweet spot.

Yup I can understand all of what you say.
I am finding that witcher3 not crashing
BG3 crashing with hang, FO4 crashing with hang

When i restrict the power then it does exactly the same thing unfortunately.
I'd no crashes in windows, and no crashes on my old GPU.
