The AMD Driver Thread

Think it's just because he was testing it with VSync disabled for some reason AMD frame gen doesn't work properly with out VSync, TBH as far as frame gen goes for me at least AFMF2.1 in the driver always seems to work better might have a slight loss to image quality over FSR frame gen but it just feels a lot smoother

Doesn't make a difference, you can read his review here and he's tried it with both on and off. Only thing that makes a difference is locking to your monitors framerate, turning adaptive sync on and forcing V-sync on.

Also it works in some games and doesn't work in others so something's clearly up.

He only tested it with Vsync on at the end when he locked it to 60fps and he said it was fine when it was locked to 60fps, he didn't try Vsync on with unlocked FPS at least that's what it sounded like in hardware unboxed video maybe he wrote something else in the article.

Ok he mentions it a few times in the article maybe he mentioned it in the video as well, but tbh don't remember it all the footage he showed for comparison apart from the bit at the end with Vsync and the locked frame rate was with Vsync off

Well these drivers suck like all the others after 25.9.1.. OpenGL still broken and rolling back causes more issues with having to use DDU or in my case I tried the AMD Cleanup Utility this time that actually did the job DDU would have.

If this carries on I'll be heading back to the green team.. 6 months in from me coming back to AMD and the drivers are causing issues, great hardware but the software is starting to **** me off!

Guess its all my fault for coming back to the red team.

GG AMD :(

I feel for you man, frustrating when you can't pin point what's causing the issues... I will say that I've been on a few sets since 25.9.1 and it all still seems great for me - I know that's not helpful, but probably reflects the general experience of most. I wouldn't write off AMD so hastily!

The specific problem with the OpenGL bug is shimmering on avatars in an OpenGL game that I play, looks horrible, like flickering shadows all over the skin of avatars. Even when shadows are disabled.. Does not happen with 25.9.1 :(

Just had to reinstall 25.9.1 yet again as when I used the Cleanup Utility yesterday, it installed AMD Install Manager without me noticing (which has 'keep drivers up to date' ticked as default) and this morning just before 9am it auto installed 25.12.1 for me.

This time I unplugged my ethernet cable and have made sure Install Manager is uninstalled and 'check for updates' in the driver software is disabled.

Really getting annoyed with this **** now

So that was your fault for not noticing. ;) I think moving back to Nvidia might be wise for your blood pressure. :p Did AMD not say they'd take a look at that game for you? Given the game has this issue with latest drivers what are the game devs doing about it, would be my question also?

Its not the game as I dont get that bug with 25.9.1 and have never seen it before with either AMD or Nvidia.

Btw my blood pressure is fine ;)

Edit.. found and image of the bug that I see.

@AMD_Vik Heres a link for mine and other users issue in Second Life..

.it's the AMD driver software for sure. While AMD Adrenaline 25.9.2 still worked fine, every release past that is bugged (25.10.2, 25.11.1)

Finally moved over to windows 11, I am now is GPU driver crash hell. I have tried 3 different revisions on the drivers and DDU'ed so may time I could do it in my sleep. It got so bad I installed linux.... my system is now solid but I'd also like to get to the bottom of my windows install. Anyone have similar issue?

What I'm thinking is if the Devs need to do something moving forwards to support these newer releases. There's obviously a disconnect between AMD and the game in these newer releases. I'd have thought the game Devs would test these things on latest releases and go "ey up, got a problem here". I know we like to say "AMD broke it" but maybes the game needs a patch? I dunno. Lol.

Second Life has regular updates but anyway it seems like Vik is on the case from looking on Reddit.

@AMD_Vik Just spotted you on Reddit looking into this.. I'll stay on 25.9.1 and hope you guys get around to fixing it whether it be on AMD or Linden Lab.. Thanks.

I've got the CPU temperature back in Adrenaline for the first time in months, so that's good, now I can mentalise over the idle temp being too high again.
