The AMD Driver Thread

@AMD_Vik

Second Life texture flickering still there with these latest drivers then.. looking like Im on the 26.3.1 driver release for at least 6 months, I tried 26.5.2 last month and it was way worse than the March driver release :(

I believe the fix for this is aligned to 26.7.1

Good job AMD.... :)

Crimson Desert FSR 4.1 on RX 7900 XTX.

I Love Zwormz Gaming think he has one of the best GPU testing channels on YouTube, Find it interesting though that none of the bigger youtube channels have posted any FSR 4.1 on RDNA 3 yet even though most of them in almost every video for the last year has mentioned still no FSR4 on RDNA 3 lol
I get that they released it the same day the steambox reviews went live... But you think one of the bigger channels would have something up by now but nothing...

Daniel Owen has a couple of good videos as well

Our repro for this is inconsistent. The colleagues who originally brought this up have had the issue eliminated since a factory reset install procedure, though we did still get input from the ISV on this. Perhaps we can verify with the amfrtdrv64 binary you have present under a failing scenario?
Just done a factory reinstall of drivers still no cigar, just crashes to desktop every time. doesn't even get to the title screen.

okay, that's not the same as the one i had in mind. This might be a separate issue then?
Possibly, but goes away if you disable igpu.

I did a complete uninstall with ddu then downloaded the auto tool to install drivers so that it would pick up both GPUs.

Sorry, did you mention that iGPU part before? I vaguely recall that factoring into other issues i've been tracking - that would have been vital for me to know.

The original issue i had in mind was with Rivals, Subnautica2, maybe a couple others where the UE dialog would show immediately after you attempt to launch the game, and it would implicate the AMF binary.

Hi vik, yes I did mention igpu before. Disabling it will allow game to run but not really possible in my setup.

The problem with large youtube channels is they only care about what gets them the most views and unfortunately bad news or rage bait sells, good news is no news.

They only cared about FSR 4 on RX 7000 series when they didn't have it, that they could turn in to rage bait, right now the only thing they care about is hating on Valve for the Steam Box being overpriced, to quote Steve Burke just about every time he talks about AMD "They are not your friend"

Stop watching them, they give me a headache, i can feel my braincells dying every time they open their mouth. These smaller channels are so much better.

Installed 26.6.4 - came up with the usual 'hang' at 56% so rebooted and started from scratch (adrenalin software had gone!)

So re-installed and this time it stuck BUT at the end it informed me Error 1603 had occured and went on to say that the older version of RyzenMaster SDK could not be removed.

However after reboot all seems to be working. Strange...

Need more videos now of "where is FSR4 for rdna 2". Pmsl. All gone quiet from these serious reviewers click bait channels. I know it arrives next year, but I agree with you. Only matters about the clicks it would seem.

Is RyzenMaster something you have installed? If so, it has gone through an overhaul and it might be an idea to remove the previous install and put the latest release on. It is now version 3.1.0.5185.

A question for you, or anyone else that has the answer. I just looked and saw I have 2 versions of Ryzen Master, a normal one and one that has SDK after it. Both is version 2.10. Just want to make sure that I can remove both of them without it causing problem. Never used either, so guessing it was installed when I installed some drivers, but hard to remember, since they were installed in 2023. If I don't need it, wont install the new version either. Or do I need it installed for some reason ?

Nah it isn't a requirement for anything as far as I know. I think of it like fan control software. It just manipulates bios via windows and gives you usage stats for power, CPU speed, etc. If you don't use it or need it, uninstall it. I used it for curve optimisation. Now I know the value that works for the CPU I might uninstall mine as well.

Yeah, having said that AMD have said RDNA 2 too will get FSR 4, but its scheduled for early 2027, that's a long time, i hope they release it early like they did for RDNA 3.

I suppose it's better to manage expectations and give themselves a big development window and then hopefully deliver early, than having to delay and disappoint / annoy people.
Excited to try this as Ark (survival) can use every frame it can get and looks a bit pants with the previous FSR implementation.... is anyone else using 26.6.4 with W10?
Using 26.6.3 with Win 10 currently. 26.6.2 was a complete fail for me

Might give 26.6.4 a try later today if I get time.
