*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

Once the hype dies down on the 5xxx series and they become readily available at RRP everywhere, the 9070XT doesnt really have a market at around £700. Why would you not get the 5070ti which will be equal in raster but have much better RT perf and the same vram?

It has to be priced under £600 or I dont see how its going to shift when things mellow out in a few months.

Or they can start £700 , still will get sales if they have stock availability and later drop the price once 5070ti gets near it's MSRP and available

Just hope if it's priced well they have enough stock otherwise scalpers

You know me - the cheaper the better!

The figures indicate it's as strong as an RTX4070TI/RTX4070TI Super in Cyberpunk and I am looking on purpose at the worst game. The other games would be better for AMD,so I am trying to put the Nvidia cards in the best light here.

Now the figures could be fibs for all we know,so we are trusting them. OFC,the analysis will change when we get reviewers figures and realworld pricing.

First problem with the statement:
1.)The RTX5070TI is an OK buy at $750
2.)The RTX5070 at $549 is an OK buy
3.)An RX9070XT is worth less than an RTX5070

Assuming the AMD figures in Cyberpunk 2077 are not fibs:
1.)The RT performance of an RX9070 non-XT is around an RTX4070
2.)The RT performance of an RX9070XT is around RTX4070TI/RTX4070TI Super

The RTX5070 is probably around RTX4070 Super level in that game.

So the RX9070 non-XT is just below(say 10% or a bit more) than an RTX5070,and the RX9070XT around 10% faster in one of the worst performing AMD RT games. Even DF says its massively optimised for Nvidia! Just like so many COD games have worked better on AMD.

Now,look at the other games where the performance difference is much closer,is the RTX5070 going to look even worse?

The issue it's using a very small die this time. The RTX5070 should have been a cut-down GB203 and not a GB205.

Cheaper the better indeed. Yet many people seem to want it to be more expensive, because you know why can nvidia charge that much and AMD can't. That right there is completely bias and broken thinking in my book.

I have been saying it the past few generations now, but here is a updated example. Say nvidia charge £1000 for their 6070 next year. Should AMD just come in at £900? Or, you know, price it like it should be full stop?

Most of us already know what 5070Ti performance is worth. It ain't no £729. So need to compare with what that level of performance is actually worth, not what silly number Nvidia want to charge for it.

At the end of the day AMD have not released the price yet and even those numbers they released could be the most favourable ones like they have done many times before, so no point getting wound up by it all imo.

AMDs whole issue is pricing too high, getting **** reviews then having to drop prices down the line, lets not to that this time.

But that is what they have been doing all the time. That does not get you raving reviews, a buzz around the internet or market share. If you still have profitable margins get price right from the get go for once.

because it is far too expensive and TBH its nVidia

AMD has had these GPUs ready for a while now right - all boxed, ready and are simply delaying the launch date. Why ?!

Any business knows that being 1st to market is imperative so why the wait ?
Only AMD can truly answer that. However some people have suggested retailers were disputing launch prices and wanted AMD to lower them, others have suggested they were finalising changes to FSR4.

Being first to market can be harmful if the product isn't ready or people can't buy your product because you can't keep it in stock causing your customers to pay more, as we've seen with the recent rushed release from their competitor.

That's how AMD always does it, release it at more than it's worth then lower the price 1 or 2 months later where it's in a constant sale (i.e the price it should actually be)

Yep. Stupid as you milked your loyal fans and now have crappy reviews that will stay like that forever.

Consider the cost of not screwing your loyal customers as marketing money. You can off set this a little by getting rid of the marketing department in the gpu side of the business. They do more harm then good to Radeon branding imo.

Yep they should do the opposite if they want to price high. Get great reviews with a low RRP and price bump no long after. The initial reviews are where it counts. Tbh they should just price it reasonably where it will sell and make profit which may lead to some market share. Surely this is not to hard for them to do. Maybe they price high because they don't have the chips to sell a huge amount.

Exactly what i have been saying.

As they won't have many sku's hopefully they put all allocation into these two cards for some time now.

Since it's looking more and more like I'll be going the 9070 XT route (rather than a 5080 or 5070Ti) I am left with the question, do I buy at release or wait 3+ months for AMD to drop the price significantly?

At least this question is easy to answer with Nvidia, they're not going to drop the price in the next 2 years let alone the next few months! Plus, right now, you can't get an Nvidia GPU for anything like MSRP.

Depends on its release price, but if its more around the £700+ mark rather than the under £600 mark i'd wait.

No point taking part in all the release FOMO nonsense. Just a good likely hood you will be ripped off.

Depends how much you value 100-200 quid though i guess

Yep. If it's over my limit of £600 then I'm out until pricing comes down. If they release at $549 then I will buy as long as the scalpers retailers price it at less than £600.

Quadruple fixed that for you. But even if it is $500 to $600,it needs to be compared to that powerhouse known as the RTX5070.

The powerhouse with only 12GB of VRAM.

That is the thing with this, if its £600 its comparable to the 5070 because that's not going to be any cheaper.
