*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

Its intriguing to me but its one of those things where i will wait until i have a GPU that can run it with all the RT, because if that's the way its indented to be experienced that's what i want to do, and i'm not paying a premium price for it when i don't get to experience it like that with a GPU that i can enjoy as intended in just about any other game.

I'm in no rush for it..

My Ampere based card used to be able to run some RT settings fine. The moment the new updates came out,not so fine and to the same level as mates with similar age AMD cards,ie,not playable. Technically a victory but not a real one.

I find the game fun,but it seems like a vehicle to also sell new Nvidia cards.Have a few 100 hours in it,most of it before I had an RT capable card. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if another update comes out and the RTX5000 series pushes ahead of the RTX4000 series.

So at this point,it reminds of some other tech demo games going back 20+ years. But the reality is most gamers have an RTX4060 or RTX3060,so we can always measurebate on how weak or strong cards are,but there is always the settings menu!

You should have got a 4070Ti in 2023 when I did for £575. You was aware of it too and didn't pull the trigger.

Could have got more money for your 3060 Ti too back then. Max upgrade cost would have been £300.

You also missed out on the S24U ultra deal :p

I am now in a position where no need to upgrade. You on the other hand could be stuck on a 3060Ti for another 1-2 years. Oophhh!

Because in the end I didn't want to spend £600 on a card in 2023.I still don't! Why do you think I am talking about the RX9070 non-XT? I am quite happy to wait longer - lots of the games I play with mates run fine on this.

Where do you end then? I used to spend under £300. Then it went to £400 last time. Now £500 isn't enough, its £600. Then next time £800? I have other hobbies,I find more value in for that sort of money.

Also,I got a 7800X3D for £280 and an 5700X for £180 soon after launch(which cost me £30 when I sold my cut price 3700X). The 7800X3D was under £200 after I sold my 5700X.My CPU upgrades have gone very cheaply for me! :D

Some of the newer games, might be problematic but I can finish my old ones. Even with Phantom Liberty I can turn off RT - I finished most of the original game on a GTX1080! :p

Plus I actually want a 16GB card, because I like running mods on games. So my expectation has always been RX7900XT/RTX4070TI level performance with 16GB VRAM.

I also got a Pixel 8 Ultra for £320 - no cashback or trade-in required. Plus I have a back-up S20FE,so technically I still spent less! :p

and again with the streaming

most people in the uk do not have the bandwidth to stream unless you are very very lucky 15-30gb is the most common speeds
gb?

  • As of 2024, the median average internet speed in the UK was 73.21Mbps. This is an increase of more than 12% from September 2022, equating to a rise of nearly 8Mbps in less than a year.
  • Average upload speeds increased by almost a fifth (18%) between September 2022 and March 2023, to 18.4Mbps.

You only need around 5000-6000kbps for a decent stream if using NVENC.. or H.264 on a decent CPU that can handle it.

From my personal perspective, I share wifi with several other people and they would be very annoyed if I told them not to use the internet because I'm game streaming

In the dead of night, when eveyone else is asleep, the speed and latency is excellent. So a game streaming future isn't realistic for many millions of people...

@TNA You will upgrade once Cyberpunk 2078 Super Duper RT-PT Edition is out,and the RTX4070TI will be relegated to peasant level RT performance.

Shame that @mrk didn't sell you an RTX4090 for under £1000. Upgrade path in tatters,I tell you. Might need to turn RT down to medium now.

That's not how I look at it. I always factor in the cost of upgrade after I sell what I have in system already. As I say in your case would have been £300 or less.

You say you like running mods, would have been able to run a lot more with the 50% extra vram over what you are stuck with. Lol

Also Pixel 8 Ultra isn't quite a S24U. Well worth doing cashback for ;)

If AMD don't cometh through for you in the next few weeks, by the time you do upgrade 16GB will be the new 12GB anyway

Nah. I completed that on release on my 3080 and completed the DLC on release too. I have soooooo many games I need to play that I don't think i will replay that game anytime soon. Certainly not on my radar.

Right now enjoying Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 :D

I dont want to derail the thread but full disclosure. BG3 Ultra at 120fps 1440p is 30-50mpbs used down, less than 0.5mbps bandwidth up. 80-100ms latency. I am at least 1,000 miles away from the server. Pretty incredible really. 1gig symmetrical fibre (GS-PON).

After I am done with that will move on to the following games in no particular order:

STALKER 2
Silent Hill 2
God of War Ragnarok
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Ratched & Clank
Age of Empires Mythology Retold
Everspace 2
SIFU
Plus loads more on my to be played list on steam that i can't recallof the top of my head :D

That is 1-2 years of gaming right there based on how many hours i get to game these days. That doesn't even include my Steamdeck which I have not touched in 5-6 months now.

This is funny, because I had it saved in my calendar to come back to the forums in 2 weeks time to mock TNA:

12GB would have been an issue with some of them,so either way it wouldn't be worth it. Either I don't bother running them or I run them fully. Just like some people want to spend almost £1000 to PT,I don't really care if the RT is set down to medium from high. Moreover, the only game I had issues with was Cyberpunk 2077. It is only one of three games with any degree of RT I bothered to play in any massive way in the last 4 years. I play more of games like Valhelm and Enshrouded.

But it is also an example of how,in the end the big theoretical performance boost in RT doesn't last. One update and all the RTX3060TI/RTX3070 owners run out of RT performance and VRAM. I spent all of £370 in four years, minus the previous card I sold.

The difference is the Pixel 8 Pro will cost less than your phone,as I can sell my old one to. But I now also have a back-up phone if I don't bother.

You mean when you have to upgrade to a 16GB RTX5070TI when they finally get back in stock? :P

Wait until Jensen pushes a few more updates! ;)

Cyberpunk 2077 not my cup of tea , is it the same game or they added dlc to story line ? Or people just replaying the same game again and again just checking out new tech demo feature added ?
For me it is basically re-playing the game over & over again. They did add DLC but didn't like it that much so I mostly skip it, though I did most of my playthroughs before it arrived.

This was from a year or so ago, actually haven't played much at all the past 2 years.

I still have my Note 10+ though? I sent them my Note 3 which was worthless.

S24U baby. £355 brand new directly from Samsung with 2 years warranty :D

If another misprice happens I just might. At current msrp? No chance. No need :D

for city folk maybe most people I know have 30mbs but once you have others in the household streaming youtube

it is annoying as down the road you can get 1000mbs but sadly not here yet
