The Ampere RTX 3080 Owners Thread

Is fixed :)

I went in the bios disabled virtualization, it wasnt that, but whilst I was in there i checked everything over and fclk was on 800mhz, boosted it to 1ghz and that fixed it.

Now how do these scores look? will also attach the saved 3dmark files.

Also this time I let gpu cool down before running profile 3 and 4 this time so they are a bit more favourable vs last time compared to stock.

profile 1 score 16299 gpu 17402 cpu 11993
profile 3 score 16245 gpu 17270 cpu 12160
profile 4 score 16665 gpu 17842 cpu 12133

That looks great, your card is performing better than mine now. Is 1GHz default for fclck (not familiar with newer Intel)? Glad you noticed that and it's fixed, that's great.

It's very stressful, time consuming and annoying when your expensive new hardware is not working as expected, I've been there.

:/ shame, I was hoping they wouldnt go the whitelist route.
I know, they claim it's to make sure we don't encounter games that lose performance due to it but they could miss quite a lot of less popular games that do benefit. I think they should have the whitelist by default but let us turn it on on a per game basis in the control panel so we can test it for ourselves.

Yep thats the problem, the old obscure games will basically never get tested by them. I agree with your idea as well, just let us override it but they can only toggle it on by default for what they tested.

run it at default settings.

Alright, so I've just run things through. Looking like this;

Time Spy @ default settings

Stock
Graphics Score: 17,289
CPU: 8,269
Total: 14,897

Undervolted
Graphics Score: 17,831
CPU: 8,242
Total: 15,181

That's a 3080 FE with a Ryzen 5 5600X.

It's saying that it's above average for my system, so I'm happy with that :)

Yeah looks good, I think I will be using my profile 4 now which matches your score and similar to chroniclard as well albeit with higher voltage, profile 3 isnt as good value with the increase load on the chip now (from fixing fclk), I see its clock speed graph isnt stable on the profile 3 3dmark graph anymore.

I may try later to get my profile 4 voltage closer to what you guys have now, card might be capable given that I am matching your stock scores.

Roger that! But it just doesn't ad up! You must have some kind off Golden Chip.

All well know articles and YouTube reviews show slight performance drop. Even if very small. Yet you post a reasonable boost.

Rebar is on/off per game because it can in some instances reduce performance.

The problem is Nvidia seem to be taking an approach where any game not tested is assumed to harm the game so its whitelisted games only, do you think they going to be testing games lots and lots of old unpopular games?

Not all of us only play new triple AAA titles, I am thinking surely they going t have to reverse this policy at some point, they done it in the past, I remember when MFAA was originally whitelisted games only and then they backed down adding it as an option in the control panel.

Compare my profile 1 and profile 4 results in 3d mark (you can download from my link, load it into 3d mark with the load button).
You will see a graph showing the clock speed during the run, when not undervolted it throttles as its hitting power limit, undervolting reduces temps and power usage so it can then sustain the clock.
This is why performance goes up alongside less power/heat. Undervolting is popular now because of this.

If others are only posting performance losses then its because of the way they did their undervolting.

who knows but for older games generally you dont need any extra oomf do you that resize bar could give you. Cant see you needed it for Quake, or Doom, or anything like that. What game would you need it for that current GPU's cant cope okay, maybe Crisis I can think of but then again I played it recently and it was fine.
