Personally there components are not up to the Job there's other better maker zotac Asus etc.i watched a YouTube video of someone's 3080 or 3090 leaking fluid of the thermal pads .

I got a 3080 FE at MSRP and was well chuffed. Wish I had gone for a 3090 though but the place you get them from limits you to one 3000 series card full stop now. So I don't think im in with a sniff of getting a 3080ti

. I hope 10GB VRAM holds up ok... but that's another thread.

That’s just oil from thermal pads, they are all like that to keep them from drying up when exposed to heat.

Every brand of pad and thermal paste for that matter has it.

Gigabyte tend to have good quality components. Other components tend to be a bit naff imo such as the build quality but gigabyte are generally good.

I am well impressed at how quiet the card is, just loaded up read dead 2 maxed everything runs like a dream!!

That's another reason why I wish I had gone for the 3090, bigger fans = lower rpm = quieter. Plus the 3080 doesn't have much case presence

I really liked the look of the heftier 2070 Super it replaced.

From personal experience, the day I got my xtreme 3090, the memory took a **** the moment it went under load, took a few times to boot back into windows. Then it took a final **** the next time it went under load, had to return it the next day.

My old xtreme 3080 had no issues.

Super happy with my Suprim X, easily my fav card and best binned card I've had.

Bought my 3090FE in the drop on Monday
Received my 3090FE on Wednesday
Did the thermal pad mod to bring memory temps down on Thursday
Couldn't cope with the coil whine on Friday, even scrolling web pages would cause spikes of coil whine (not loud, but an irritating pitch)
Sold my 3090FE on Saturday (today)

Back to my trusty 3080, with no coil whine and lower temps with the added benefit of being £600 richer than I was at the start of the week

The 3090FE was a lovely card to look at though and was a monster in size compared to my 3080.

You should hear my Asus 3090 Strix OC, the coil whine can be very audible even at 60fps but the noise level can depend on the game and whatever load it puts on the card, but the coil whine on this card sounds like a high pitched bee hive that has no issues overpowering my 7 case fans at full speed.

Worst coil whine I've ever heard on a card since I started PC gaming in 2003 and I've had quite a lot of cards over the years. Even my 2x 2080 Ti FE cards in SLI had very little coil whine combined compared to this card.

Does amaze me that they can make such complicated pieces of electronics but coil whine is still a problem that needs solving. I've even had a coil whining Logitech MX master mouse when it was moved, took ages to figure out where that noise came from :cry:

my 3090 strix had zero whine until i put an EKWB water block on it, now its super loud like you describe
