The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

yup just order it, i've got it on dated R1 dvd. but want the update blu-ray version. on another note part 1 and part 2 of turn a gundam arrive in the post today.

I received my ATA mystery box through and it's quite a good one:)

3 titles I was interested in, one that I was sort of interested in and one that I'll watch because I'll give anything a go once when it comes to anime* and some of my favourite titles have been ones that I initially didn't think I'd like much.

Attack on titan season 2 Roar of awakening (film) collectors edition. - I'm more into the series (which I still need to buy) but the completionist in me is happy to get the film.
Kokkoku Collectors edition - Almost bought this last time it was cheapish.
Silver Spoon season 1 collectors edition - missed out on this in the pre-order phase and offer earlier in the year, but decided I wanted it after watching it on Screen Anime (it's one of the ones that I had doubts about but really enjoyed after watching a few episodes).
Welcome to the ballroom collectors edition
Kings Games collectors edition - Wanted to get this for a while.

*Well almost anything, I've tried to give DBZ a go a couple of times but by god I can't stand it.:p

I wasn't sure about the mystery box because I'm quite picky about what I want to buy, so it didn't make sense to risk unknowns.

Friend of mine tried to persuade me saying it was probably worth it for resale alone, but I didn't want to deprive someone of getting one, so left it :)

Looking at the list there, for me probably a good move in the end, none of those were any near my radar.

AOL mystrery box is now live there was 18 minute delay before the option to add to basket was not greyed out.

ordered the Anime-On-Line "blu-ray mystrery Bundle"

I overslept this morning, but got a mystery box from mvm at about 10:30 :)
They're usually good, and I've got some quite large gaps in my MVM releases, partly because MVM seem to release a fair bit more than ATA :p (and do more rereleases of older DVD titles that i've got onto blu-ray).

MVM have apparently had trouble getting recent aniplex releases which includes Monogatari, and may explain why the most recent Monogatari episodes aren't available.

Sad if true, hope they can sort something out.

I bit the bullet on the log horizon collection at £40 new/sealed on ebay in the end, couldn't fill the missing parts for season 1 elsewhere, and a collection is more pleasing than part 1, part 2 etc.

From what I read next 2 days of MVM sales are further discounted pre-orders, followed by random stuff. Think they said there won't be a 2nd mystery box.

Interested to see what ATA release at 5 today. Need klk still.

I've order the aol Blu-ray mystrery box myself too. as for the 12 day i don't know if it they doing a mystery box or not and if they are if it is same mystery box selection as day 6 or different selection, as they update the text on 12 days of xmas page.

I think they planned to but something didn't work out.

Hopefully this link to their tweet works:

Seems to be something going on though as their sales this year haven't been good, often had better prices from amazon. ATA has been much better really.

Case in point monogatari 2nd season was £60 on sale, amazon was £42. Girls last tour collectors edition £40, amazon £35 today.

well i got little surprise when i was checking my email and saw the confirmation email for the AOL blu-ray Mystery bundle i ordered today. for some reason i have somehow manage to get it at £29.99 instead of £39.99 had to double check twice make sure im not seeing thing or if i had ordered the dvd bundle by mistake as i know the dvd bundle is £29.99 and it does say "Blu-Ray Christmas Mystery Bundle (15) Blu-Ray" where it list the name of the product i've ordered.

from the looks of it the rigid case on this edition of Kill la Kill that holds the three blu-ray cases is similar to the one's they done for the gundam series and other more recent tiles as the original rigid case for klk was a two part case where the top slides off to access the three blu-rays plus booklet house inside the case.

Time for another update on viewing things I guess since my last one :)

Finished:
  • Shigurui - Death Frenzy - Honest opinion on this was that it wasn't for me. I wasn't that keen on it after 3/4 episodes but it's only 12 episodes long, so I thought I'd see if it improved. In the end I was disappointed, the season ending was terrible and failed to answer the questions that the first episode asked.
Continuing:
  • Kaguya Sama - Seen first 4 episodes of Season 2. Continues where Season 1 left off with the same high quality. Good so far! :)
  • Hunter x Hunter - Almost 40 episodes in. It's not totally hooked me really, but at the same time it does have some really good moments, so I may as well carry on seeing what it has to offer.
  • Fate/Stay Night - Unlimited Blade Works - Reached about 50% of the way in so far. The story is not quite as dark as Fate/Zero but it's good still, and the same animation quality is present that was so good in Zero. It's a bit slower story wise, but I'm enjoying it all the same.
  • The Rising of the Shield Hero - I'm having an absolute blast with this one really, it's my fav watch right now. Seen first 8 episodes so far. I am just doing an episode a day or so because I want to savour it and not zoom through.
  • Violet Evergarden - Seen first 2 episodes. I had no real preconceptions about this apart from it was presumably about a girl called Violet, and her outfit was kind of Victorian era. So far I am floored by the animation work, this is a work of art, and the first 2 episodes both look amazing. Story wise it's interesting, it's slower paced but it's got a very real feeling to it. I am enjoying seeing the developments.
  • Toradora! - Only seen episode 1, Reddit is hosting a rewatch so I thought I'd tag along, so it's 1 episode a day cadence. The first episode was good to watch, although it's clearly introductory, I don't want to judge it one way or another yet.
  • Attack on Titan - Season 4 is kicking off so I guess I'll be watching this 1 episode a week until it stops showing.
Planning to watch (short list - roughly in order probably. Bold = starting imminently):
  • Assassination Classroom
  • A Place Further Than the Universe
  • Code Geass
  • DARLING in the FRANXX
  • Log Horizon
  • The Future Diary
  • The Irregular at Magic High School
  • Girls' Last Tour
  • Isekai Quartet S1 (need to finish Shield Hero first I'll probably move this higher up when close to finishing)
  • Cautious Hero - The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious
Blurays:

Managed to pre-order KLK and RE:Zero S1 from ATA earlier. Grabbed Log Horizon collection for £40, so I'll probably sell my parts sometime.

Not ordered anything else yet, I'm hoping to get some more stuff in the coming days though. Still hoping GL comes back in stock :)

Just reading that apparently the new Wicked City release doesn't have the old UK dub, which is a bit of a shame for the completionists/people who first saw it with the dub back in the 90's.

WW do you prefer dubbed or subbed Animes? I personally prefer original language with subs. I tend to find the Japanese voice actors much better than the American counterparts.

Shame they don't just include as much of the dub stuff as they can as the audio is not normally that big of a space hog compared to the video.

@Kyo - I am personally a sub guy. Some stuff is alright with dub but usually sub is better, I feel the Japanese VA's take it more seriously as a career so the quality is often higher.

Stuff like Steins Gate, Baccano, Space Dandy were pretty good on the dubs though. Baccano in particular due to it's setting may well be the superior one to watch in dub.
