The Antec 900 Cooling is AMAZING!

My S80b at the momment is running with no fans at all.

Case is 38deg, CPU on my reserator is 34 idle, 37 load.

No noise at all.

X2 4400 Toledo so a bit hotter than a new Intel aswell.

The Intels are safe well into the high 60's so your never going to have trouble with a hot summer, I would only worry if the ambient temperature ever got above 50. :o

These processors and components are designed to work anywhere in the world in hot rooms for decades, 40deg idle on your processor is not even 2/3 of the safe operating temperatures of most processors.

Had my Toledo up to 90deg with a accident, ran like that for about a day without me noticing (oops) was fine after.

Modern processors will look after themselves, just bung the stock cooler into a case with no fans and it will run perfectly fine for 10+ years stable.

Temperatures are only an issue when people want to brag about them, I am happy to idle at 50deg on my CPU, stable and 3.0/3.0 load of the high 60s.

Fine temps, stable so no issue. If its stable unless you want to brag its fine. :)

what kind of temps would i get with my E6400 with a reserator? im at 55'C load with a scythe ninja with no fan attached, just one at the front sucking in add one at the back blowing out..

No idea at all, never used a E6400 on the reserator and would not like to speculate. :)

When I first turn my computer on it runs at room temperature for about ten minutes.

With the reserator 1+ which is what I have the temperature is directly related to the temperature around the tower, so if the room is hot so is the PC, if it is cool so is the PC.

I generally compare the reserator to top end cooling of the XP120 type, top cooler when I purchased mine and it offers comparable temperatures to one.

i got one of these delivered this morning and heres my thoughts:

Pros:
  • excellent cooling
  • looks nice

Cons:
  • wire management
  • bit cramped for space

Overall i would give this case a big thumbs up for cooling, but i would certainly recommend to get the extra 120mm fan for the side panel, my gfx card which i replaced the stock cooler with a zalman f900 and with the side fan sucking air out has gone down from 60 degrees at idle to 40 degrees and my cpu idles at 30 degrees

this case all round is great value for money but if your like me and love to be tidy ( ive been told im compulsive with it ) then this case wont suit you as it doesnt leave much room for cable managemnt, especially if your psu has short cables

I was going to buy the Thermaltake Soprano, is it good against dust?

The Soprano is an excellent case...and yes it's quite good against dust as it has a filter on the 120mm intake fan. That's one of the reasons I bought it.

Sorry about the delay

just drove down from sheffield to buy mine this afternoon got back opened it up and i like what i see in the tool bag there is a rubber mat thing ? anyone teill me what thats for nowt in manual ???

cheers

How sturdy are they? Given that the Sonata II is only slightly more expensive the Antec 900 is something like £40 extra with a PSU? How is it worth that much more than the Sonata II??

Oh and how easy is it to turn the stupid blue lights off?

It's sturdy, my TT Armor was better built though.

The Sonata? I dunno but that looks bland to me, and has a door...Very annoying!

The Blue LED's are in the fans, so you'd need to replace them.

Here are some pics of mine.

It's very quiet on the middle and low settings.....I leave the fans on the middle settings and both my 7900GT and northbridge temps have dropped 8c from all this airflow! Truly amazing.

and here's a pic of my setup

^ I like it just the dust must be really bad, grills and fans everywhere for dust to get in.

G15, nice keyboard. I want that too but its 21" wide when my pull out desk is 19" wide :( .

so far dust doesn't seem to settle in the cage...larger particles get trapped in the grill and i can clean it off...smaller dust particles seem to just get blown out the top again through the massive 200mm fan.

Well can anyone point me to material that would nearly anti-dust the antec 900 case completely. Im talking fan filters, nets the lot. I'll get it if it stops dust getting into it.

Ya yewen mentioned that lol.

What is the problem with the DVI connector. I've read that people have had problems with their graphics card not being able to be connected with the DVI connector, not enough room?
