The Apprentice 13 - Weds 4th Oct 2017 - 9pm BBC1

Will be interesting to see if anyone within IT trusts that guy to hire anyone for a cyber security role.

Really think Lord Sugar is blinded by the possibility of making millions from cyber security instead of questioning how credible James is.
Not sure how he made it past the interview stage.
he got his manager demoted in his first role
he then got sacked from his last job as he was trying to steal clients from the company he worked for
his new website said his company had accreditations that it didn't

Sounds like the sort of guy you'd want to head up hiring of cyber security people to protect your IT infrastructure

I like how Karen & Sarah shot him down towards the end explaining how naive he sounded & that owning a business is much different than being a manager.

I thought the only real entrepreneur this year was Micheala.

Out of the two finalists I would say Sarah seemed much better than James.
It seemed like it was a choice between a dodgy salesman who most people wouldn't trust & a business owner with experience who just needed investment & a push in the right direction.

Saying that tho if either went on Dragons Den I'm not sure they'd get any investment.

Inside info or lucky guess?
Not sure what you mean by that, I'm just making an educated guess based on what I've seen. Neither of the proposed business plans are particularly strong so then you have to look at the candidates themselves and what they bring to the table and all honesty both of them have severe failings, ultimately Sugar is investing 250k of his own cash and why would he give it away if he thought he was never going to see it again? The only think against that theory is he may be under contract to ‘invest’ in at least one of the candidates business proposals.

Yes but you think he does it for free and doesn't get paid to appear? Plus I've been told he charges for consultation. He could be in pocket before the business started.

James had no USP until Ricky Martin told him that cyber security was becoming big and he should think about it. I don't think he meant for James to say his whole business idea is cyber security recruitment from that point on and he'll specialise in it  Right - just click your fingers and now you have the skills to find the best cyber security experts right? There probably isn't a single mention of cyber in his business plan since he didn't mention it once before Ricky got involved. James is probably more of a bull ******* than Trump.

You mean this guy?

I thought James was credible until he started BSing.

100 placements in cyber security? 1.5m skills shortage in cyber security alone?

GRC/InfoSec has been around for years and years. Just because the government is fielding some soundbites re cyber jobs (or apparent lack of) doesn't mean James suddenly has a USP. What a joke. I work in GRC/Cyber as a consultant, so probably better qualified to comment on it. Unlike Ricky or James.

Can't say I'm shocked with that ending, with how slack he's been with the firings this year did make me wonder if this would be the first year of double investment, I think he wanted James but that was more investing in the person so he's gone with the business to get something more out of the deal.

Just seems interesting how you managed to predict the result based on there being no 'You're hired' in the preview.

Having caught up with it. Out of the two I felt Sarah to be the proper investment in terms of business. James to be one in terms of bsing.

Good luck to the pair of them but I feel Michaela should have been the winner. What a grafter she is.

I think he read it well. As discussed, there is usually a “you’re hired” sound bite at the end of the penultimate show but there wasn’t this time.
