The Apprentice 13 - Weds 4th Oct 2017 - 9pm BBC1

If Harrison was any further up his own arse he’d be able to brush his teeth and wipe himself at the same time. Bell

So basically Alan’s pattern is...

Insult, berate, make out like they’re fired then follow up with “on that basis you’ve made life difficult for me.... BUT” then fire someone else :o

It was criminal that the mens customers didn't ask for a refund, their VIP box was such a car crash that I was embarrassed to watch.

What I dont get is she said she does weddings but then couldn't work out wine quantities.

You stick wedding on anything and you can over charge and order as much as you want, she's probably never had to actually work out the quantity required.

It's turning even further into car crash tv this series.

Yeah that's a fair point.

With the odd exception, the quality of apprentice "candidates" is never great but this year it really seems to have taken a dive further.

DM sums it up:

Siobhan thereby became one of the few losing team leaders to exit from The Apprentice with her reputation strangely enhanced and probably in a position to put her prices UP when she returned to running her own business (as a wedding planner).

‘Client satisfaction is key to me,’ she said in the taxi, unbowed. ‘My clients saying Thank You means more to me than money sometimes.’

Siobhan Smith may have failed as a candidate on The Apprentice but she could well become an icon of the Events industry.

Fired for doing a good job because Sugar would rather candidates rip off the public with a shoddy service.

For me this is the worst series so far, i am usually a person to say if you don't like it don't watch it and then you don't have to complain. Did always used to enjoy the apprentice there was always a few episodes/products that would interest me.

The latest episode the teams were so shambolic, and unorganised it was really cringe-worthy. I know the boys "won" but there clients really should have requested a refund/partial refund. They knew about the pregnant lady for instance, acknowledged it and said they would do something, and then didnt do anything. Then ordering such low alcohol and needing to go to an onsite restaurant to stock up and what i imagine are retail prices, on top of this why was it required for 4/5 of them to head to the onsite restaurant to get the extras? Effectively the non-refund acted as a scape goat for the guys.

Additionally, i think the task was poorly constructed and was going to be very difficult to succeed. Unless editing and shifted the timescales they were expected to choose a standard of food service (in both cases clients expected high end fortunately for them) before they had a chance to talk to the customers about the customer was expecting, surely discussing with the client what they wanted and at what price would allow them to make a more informed decision about what level of catering they would go for, and work the margins from there. And that is the way it would generally work in the real world anyways?

The budget is what screwed the teams up. Each party had about 14 guests, that’s £178 pp but the customer expected to be wined, dined and entertained for SIX HOURS on that.

Breaking that down that’s a spend of £30 pp / hour. So, if we assume food costs £30 pp that’s pushed the spend up per hour. Already you’d be struggling to satisfy an “open bar” for six hours for that. Let’s be honest, the clients bent over the girls there.

The boys went wrong as they massively underspent on booze and ended up going to the match day bar! Those bottles probably cost £30 if the beer prices I’ve experienced are anything to go buy. They literally could not have chosen a worse place to buy extra wine (but they had to)... had the girls toned the quantity down by 25-50% they’d have walked it.

Girls - good food, unlimited wine and no entertainment
Boys - stingy food, bar ran dry and a wide boy singing Frank Sinatra badly

It almost seems fixed ;)

If the boys were able to buy the wine from another shop the girls could have probably made a massive saving by buying some cheap wine at some off license somewhere, I thought the whole point of ordering the wine from the chosen supplier in advance was to test out their numeracy/organisation skills.
