The Apprentice 2008

Raef is the best because he wasn't looking for people to scapegoat or blame. Nicolas deserved to go but the team leader did seem to be looking for scapegoats from the off. He also gave his mates the jobs with no risk.

I wouldn't trust Raef, just needed to see his tie. Never trust a bloke with a Full Windsor, and i'm not alone in my beliefs,

In Ian Fleming's James Bond series, the British spy remarked that the Windsor knot was "the mark of a cad."

Not sure how alex gave his mates the jobs when they had only met a few hours before, couldn't really see how people are to become that close that quickly. It seemed like a class divide had been created straight from the go, as when they all left SAS's office and piled into the cars Raef, Nicolas, Michael and Simon all got in one, Alex the PM was in the other and was probably talking and making decisions based on feedback he was getting from his cars occupants.

Nicolas and his defence was laughable. starting down the line of Educated / un-educated then Culture it was clear he was alluding to class but didn't want to say that. Did he not realise SAS wants a down to earth solid working who can sell.

I just enjoy watching this show and almost every week it comes back down to "to many cooks.." they all are used to managing teams / making decisions and don't like being told what to do. The ones that will go far in the show will be in the background and steadily working and not upsetting people needlessly.

Raef striaght away showed his calibre when he was asked by the team to be PM and he refused, came up with the normal I'm willing to lead but not at the moment. His cards were marked from that moment. Stepping up to the plate is what saved Alex.

Correct. A very funny quote!
Yeah. Funny guy. :D

I don't like/trust him but not because of his tie. :p

Spot on. They'd only just met, how can they be "mates"?

Again spot on. If Raef wants to make it to the end, not offering to lead the team could count against him at some point.

Micheal seems to have a 'cant be arsed' attitude to the tasks, I think he could be very funny in future episodes.

And of course, this is not a true business program, its like the Big Brother of Business as peopl have said.

His being insulted at not being named as a hard worker or whatever on the first task I just found silly and immature.

True. But its better than Big Brother. ;)

Yeah. Funny guy. :

I think its all about timing things, you dont want to put yourself forward/be too vocal/active too early as in the first few tasks there are so many people, that often the manager is the one to take the buck for collective failings. Especially since as long as people dont make a massive cockup in the first task they can usually scrape through, given that SAS has no prior performances to go on. However once the field starts thinning down, the good candidates need to make a push to come forward.

I see what you say but there were others who weren't even asked so they didn't have problems in turning it down. Raef however was given the opportunity and backed down. Perhaps in the interview stage near the end someone will ask why he turned the opportunity down, if he's such a good leader. He'll need a good excuse to get away with it.

Raef didn't seem to do a lot but spouted a whole lot of poop most of the programme. I liked Alex, he seems down to earth and hard working. None of the girls stood out too much although i'm sure in the next few episodes we will learn more about them, I think Sara will do quite well although she will definitely make enemies with the other girls.

Wont waste an hour watching this every week, but looking forward to the inevitable ******* on TV Burp.:)

Star out swearing completely - don't try and be clever. FF.

Harry Hill> “…sell the remaining the fish to a solicitors office and I was bowled over by their negotiating skills, …he’s hoping for £130. Just watch and learn…

APPRENTICE “We’ll sell the whole lot to you a £100 quid, everything.”

SOLS “I think you should sell the whole lot for half price, £50 everything.”

APPRENTICE “in a week, we cant do that. Can I ask you a question, just one question…”

APPRENTICE “if we can do the whole lot for you for £80 pounds would you do it?”

SOLS “no no, fifty pounds”

APPRENTICE “I can’t go less than seventy five for the whole lot, I just think fifty pounds is too diminutive”

SOLS “no no, you’re looking at the short-term, you’ve got to look at the long term.”

APPRENTICE “confusing bickering over time, MAJOR POINT IS TIME IS OF ESSENCE.”

APPRENTICE “What about sixty five pounds?”

SOLS “No, no, fifty pounds, customers always right yeh?”

Harry Hill. “Yeh, well its going right so far? There’s still room for a little negotiation.”

SOLS “Fifty pounds for the whole lot, shakin’ his hand, fifty pounds.”

Harry Hill “That’s the person you should Alan, the bloke buying the fish!”

******* hell that project manager is a total bitch!

Can't believe Alan didn't see through it all. It was totally obvious that neither of the two people either side of her had done anything substantially wrong.

The asian girl put a ordering system in place and yet it backfired on her because she offered (and got agreement from the PM) that she should go home to get more irons.

The pretty girl was getting bullied by the PM throughout. Ever since the very start she basically said "I'm not interested in your views, please tell them to this person standing next to me."

PM should have been fired.

Totally agree.

Yes you're entirely right in your view. She was definately the one who should've gone. The way she disregarded what others were saying is completely stupid and unprofessional of her. Perhaps she's there to make good TV?

I think the only reason the PM didn't get fired was because the other two were so bad at defending themselves.

The girl that got fired should have pointed out that even if they hadn't lost the £50 they still would have lost. The reason they lost thus wasn't her, but the people selling - and they key person selling was the PM. The major contract they lost, the '£5000 contract' (LMAO) was purely the PMs fault.

The blonde girl should have pointed out the PM's bullying, lack of proportionality and blame culture that she created. How the PM continued for (was it 15 minutes?) in the car until someone else, unrelated, had to get involved and pull her back, telling her to calm down and realise what she was doing, would have been a key thing that I'd have mentioned.

Lucinda is hot yeah but she can't defend herself. She should have pointed out the PM was bullying her from the very start - that would have gone a long way for some sympathy.

She was in tears by the end of the night because of the bullying so it's no wonder she didn't feel like getting up in the morning. I certainly wouldn't have either. It was just her way of staging a silent protest.

It was so obvious I'm shocked Alan didn't see it.

£4.99 per item - 1000 items - £4990 for the hotel, then...

£15 for that huge ass pile including ironing for the other guy?!

Sure, these candidates have been selected for the entertainment value as well as their above average ability but seriously where is the common sense? Cringeworthy.

Jenny should have gone, can't believe they didn't bring up how she wasted hours going over basic sales knowledge at the start. She didn't lead at all and kept blaming and wouldn't let anyone speak "CAN YOU LISTEN PLEASE CAN YOU LISTEN PLEASE" argh get lost, Sir Alan made a mistake not firing her.... And shes Ginger!
