The Apprentice 2008

I think Lucinda looks like Katie from the last series, except she's an emotional wreck compared to the crazy backstabbing witch.

Good episode... they fired the right person this week for sure.

Good choice of firing, Ian was a useless leader and had no grip, at times it seemed like he couldnt be bothered with making decisions. Kevin (tryin as he did to shine as a better leader) is abit of a drip, hearing him try and work out how many tomatoes were needed for the soup was tiring and a mess.. and in the kitchen; I don't think he has even made cheese on toast before.

Tonight the guys were total idiots and I applaud Sir Alan for ripping into them. What the hell were they thinking going to tecos to get supplies? The lot of them were fools.. im surprised none of them even stated that fact in the board room.

Good episode.

Just finished watching it on iplayer (went to the cinema whilst it was on) which took aaaaaages because it kept stalling... anyway, spot on decision by sir Alan this week. The team leader didn't have a clue, really - he delegated all responsibility, made no decisions and got pushed around by other members of the team. He's now also a LOOOOHOOOOSER :D \o/

Really like Simon, probably just a girly hormone thing though, him being Alpha male and not usually my type. He'll probably do well but now that the others have identified that, they'll make it harder for him so we'll see...

Just saw Ian the PM standing at the checkout handing over the money... how was Kevin in charge of spending again? The head chef in most restaurants barely sees the light of day, let alone know what things are on shop shelves. They say "I need tomotes, about 10kg of them" not "I need tomotoe sauce, Dolmio to be precise as it tastes the nicest, and gets lots of them!"

Suga kept saying they had clearly overordered. Yet the video showed them having to get more supplies so they hadn't ordered enough.

Tis' funny to watch basic stuff going wrong.

It's the 1st rule of business to work out what your margins are otherwise what's the point?

10 minutes on the net would have given them 5 decent cheap italian meals including quantities. (Unless they weren't allowed to use the net?)

Not rocket science is it.

Tomato soup, pizza, panini, 2 pasta dishes, anti-pasti mozarella, parmaham and melon. Deserrt, tiramisu or ice cream (bought in wholesale).

Expresso to finish.

They should all have been sacked for gross incompetence.

At no point throughout the task did he perform like a Team Leader in my eyes.

Mat Lucas's blithering was pathetic and Simon is the only one I have seen who has performed like a TL so far in this series.

Shocked by the fact that they didn't go to the wholesaler and bought stuff from tesco didn't come up at the boardmeeting. Even if they'd done their mark ups properly on the tesco prices nobody would've been coming anyway as it was all too expensive.

What I love about the apprentice is that Alan Sugar isn't looking for the world's greatest businessman/woman - to be frank, none of the contenders are remotely close to this title.

I think he is looking for people who have the basic qualities of a good businessman/woman to a high standard. Yet the contestants seem to be so caught up in winning the petty power-squabbles within the groups and are so desperate not to be seen in a position of lower hierarchy to each other, that none of these basic qualities seem to exist!

The armani suits, the haircuts, the accents and the generally attitudes of being at a higher level in society than 'others' stinks of toffery and I am sure means FA to Sir Alan.

Who did that snobby barrister think he was when he sat there spieling off "Sir Alan, I like the arts, high culture, fine wines etc... not football and lager". What an excellent thing to say to a chairman of a football club. If barristers are indeed in charge of arguing cases in a court of law - I fail to see who would ever employ him! FIRED= spot on.

The chap last night deserved to go - I didn't see any leadership qualities after specifically placed into this position to test their experience & he couldn't accept responsibility to his actions. He came unstuck & rightly so. FIRED = spot on.

Fairest comment of last night's show : Sir Alan : "Simon, I don't believe you deserve to be in here tonight".

There were indeed questions to whether simon can in fact do more than effectively undertake tasks etc- does he have leadership qualities et al. Yet the phrase "too many cooks spoil the broth" would have applied in this situation, and once the initial decisions of the task had been made- they needed more do-ers and a single decision maker to deal with any eventualities/problems.

Cutting the pizzas in half certainly was not dealing with it :p

I want that ex army guy to win it. Simon I think his name is. He seems to be on the ball, with fresh ideas, excellent motivation and great team leading skills. He knows how to graft as well which is always good.

He does seem to be the only contestant from either team that has stood out for all the right reasons so far.

The girls did really well.

One of them is a complete blagger and will try anything, selling the tickets in advance was a brilliant idea.

Am sure the tall lanky young guy - looks like a recruitment consultant said on the phone 'I've made a saving of 100% on the flyers'

£200 down to £100 is a 50% reduction surely?!

:/

I'm trying to watch this on iplayer at the mo. It keeps on bloody buffering and you can't pause it :/ Why on earth didn't they put a pause button in their player.

Edit

Oh, it has appeared now :o

Look further up in the thread, somehow someone on here thought it was a 100% saving aswell :D
Well I would say that thinking a reduction is 100% when it is only 50% isn't as much of a mess up as 4 soups = 10 tomatoes to 15 soups = 150 tomatoes. :D

4 soups = 10 tomatoes = 2.5 tomatoes per soup.
15 soups = 150 tomatoes = 10 tomatoes per soup.

What on earth about 15 soups demands a 4x increase in tomatoes?!
