I'm running the HTT base setting at 250MHz. I've seen screenshots of allegedly stable systems running it as high as 363MHz. Above 300 seems pretty rare, though ~270 is common.

Oddly, I had to feed an extra 0.05V to the CPU to get over 220.

Have you altered the CPU-NB and NB-SB multipliers? They're wrongly labelled in the BIOS as 200,400,600,800,1000, but they are actually 1x,2x,3x,4x,5x the base setting. Both should be changed so that they are 1GHz or less as they generally don't take well to overclocking. Set them to "800", which will be 4x and thus give 1GHz or less up to 250MHz base HTT.

RAM dividers work the same way - unless your memory can run at more than 226MHz, you will have to set it to 5/6ths or 2/3rds, which are wrongly labelled in the BIOS as 166MHz and 133MHz.

Mine would probably go higher, but I'd have to reduce the memory speed to 2/3rds. I don't think I'd get better performance under 270x9, which is a bit much for a 3000. I might fiddle and bench when I have some time, but I'm happy with a stable 25% o/c and a 45% memory bandwidth increase (it scales very well with clock speed and I changed to 1T rather than 2T).

On the stable 1.21 BIOS; I run at 270x9 with my 3000 which is pretty good. I've gone high with the beta bios but I've had all kinds of stability issues with the beta bios. Especially cold boot issues and the hard-drives sometimes going missing! So I've dropped back to 1.21 which appears to be very stable. Anyway, five minutes ago, a new 3800x2 turned up....so I'll give that a go this evening.

Okay so I have no patience :D ....I've already put the 3800x2 in!! Already clocking it; wouldn't get into Windows at 10x250; will get into Windows at 10x245. Burning in now.

thanx for the info ill have a good mess around with the bios this afternoon havent had that much time to have a good luck at it

ive just feed the cpu with abit more power and now is at 230 stable :)

What programs can i use to check my memory freqency? I just got this board today and happy with 245x10 but i cant seem to get the memory to 200. In cpu-z it says its 163.3. Ive tried different memory settings in the bios (133/166/200) but it always comes up as 163.3 in cpu-z.

Type in 200 after enabling overclock mode. DO NOT spend a day and a half hitting enter, expecting a menu lol

I'm running NB/SB-CPU 800 - DDR 400 - 220x12-2640 game stable

Most was 226x12-2712 - 2.5-3-3-5-1T running Aqua/SPI/Sandra - 73,941/30's/6638-6555 1.45v

Needs more voltage I know, overall, v pleased with this board :)

For some reason, your memory is moving to a 2/3rds divider if you go over the default HTT base speed. Do you have all the memory settings on manual?

Or you could try slapping the HTT base speed up to, say, 240MHz and manually setting the memory to a 2/3rds multiplier (wrongly labelled in the BIOS as "166MHz" or "DDR333"). That'll get you 200MHz memory and a 25% o/c on the CPU. That would probably work with a 3000 or 3200.

Have you also reduced the multiplier on the CPU-NB and NB-SB HT links? If you go over 200 on the base speed, you need to drop them from 5x to 4x (wrongly labelled as "1000MHz" and "800MHz" in the BIOS). Otherwise they'll be running at 205x5=1025MHz and they can be extremely touchy about any degree of overclocking. I've read of instability or even failure to boot caused by overclocking these links at all, even the smallest amount.

I didn't do that, but I did post elsewhere asking for advice and then cleared my CMOS, as advised, to find that I still couldn't change it from 200.

I didn't twig until I had to change the date and time (which were wrong, of course, after flashing a new BIOS and clearing the CMOS), which was done with + and -. So I tried + with the stubborn 200 et voila! It changed to 201. So some versions of the BIOS use + and - keys to adjust the base HTT speed (whatever people want to call it).

Anyone know how to install the agp driver on this board?
Every time i try to run it, it says 64bit XP already has driver, just install special patch!.
But I'm not using Windows XP 64-bit.

I was going to just do it manually via Device Manager but I can find the AGP controller in the list. Any ideas?

try downloading the 32bit driver from here http://www.asrock.com/support/Download/dl_939Dual-SATA2.htm

IIRC, WinXP SP2 prevents any non-MS AGP driver (for the motherboard, not the card itself) being installed anyway.

Have you set the SATA driving to strong in the BIOS? That enabled this board to detect my Samsung SATA2 drive. On a cold boot, anyway - it very rarely detects it on a reboot.
