**The ASrock 939dual-SATA2 (ULi M1695) thread**

so whos done the voltmods and really cranked the board up ? and would a combination of 2x256 and 1x512 bh5 work ok(dual channel like my nf7?)? i should be able to get another 512 bh5 at some point as well.

well, had a bit of a wobbly bios flashing evening
i had been using ocwbeta3 and tried to flash to beta1 to get rid of the htt lock

got a bios is the wrong size error...fired up other pc and made another floppy with the beta2 bios in it and flashed successfully

for some reason the max multiplier setting in the beta2 bios was greyed out at x6 and when i set it at x10 the system wouldn't even post and i had to clear cmos and reflash back to the beta3 bios

i have now received my conductive paint :) and will try this later
can anyone tell me does the vcore paint mod work with the ocwbeta3 bios, or will i need to flash it to the latest asrock 1.50 bios?

thanks

I'm gonna be ordering one of these very very soon. I was thinking:

144 Opteron
2 Gig OcUK Value Ram
Freezer64 Cooler

I've glanced over most this thread, and i did spot a comment about the cooler around page 20(?). I assume it does fit alright, but has anyone got a picture of it on this board just to make me feel better before I order? Ta!

sure you want the 144? a lot less chance of getting near 3ghz with it

Yes I'm sure, cause:

a) it's £90
b) it's in stock
c) i'd be happy with 2.4 to be honest (anything's a step up from my broken xp2500@3200)
and d) it's £90!

Happy New Year everybody just a strange thing has happend when I switch off my optical mouse ,keyboard and usb port hub have still got power to them , I think this started after I put the 1.50 bios in Ideas anybody thanks

isnt there a 270limit on the ver3 bios?

yeah there is a limit on the ocw3 bios, really peed off because the opteron i have will do 280x10 on the ocw1 bios but i had cold boot issues with it so had to trade off with the lower htt on the ocw3 bios.

or use the ocw beta2 bios i not had any cold boot problems ,only when i go over 335HTT with my opteron 144 .else running fine

Godd mod btw :)

got a fan ciculating air around that cooler and your graphics card?

Youll probably need one to complete the efficiency.

yes - i have a 120mm fan blowing onto it now and have tidied up my cabling so the airflow is better, and the 6800 has an artic cooler on it as well.

it seems to have sorted the problem i was having when my second sata drive was only being intermittantly picked up on a warm reboot, or 'lost' after awhile - that whole area was so heated up by the southbridge when the original heatsink was on it

^^Good to hear it,That would be a relief!

I just did the vcore mod with VID 3 TO SGND using conductive grease.Set the bios to 1.325 and am currently recieving min 1.52 to 1.57 volts(typically fluctuating).

Bumped it to 1.350-->systool reporting min 1.49-1.65volts (Typ Fluc)

Primed 40 mins, both prime torure tests set to high priority(+ a 3dmark run for good measure).Just working one prime now so i can type.
Early days but hopefully this completes the overclock.

BTW i cant seem to get over 300htt stable, even with volt mods and ocz booster.Memory corsair cas 2,2gig stuff.Set mem divider to 133.

Anyone with any stable combos, can recommend me some settings to try above 300?
That may work with this setup? Thanks

HELP PLEASE!

Just tried building a PC for a mate of mine, using one of these mobos. Can't get the thing to power on, very similar to the problems that edgedemon reported earlier. With the 20-pin power connector and the 4-pin connector plugged in, the PC won't start up at all - literally not a twitch. Pull out the 4-pin connector and then try, and the cpu & case fans will start, but the display doesn't come on and the machine doesn't post. Try again with the 12v 4-pin connector plugged back in, and not a peep. PSU is an "e tech Win-400PS" whatever that is, and is (apparently) rated at 400W. Dead mobo, dead PSU, or some other problem?

We're still no further forward on this, can't get the thing to work. A lot of Googling and forum browsing has shown a lot of people suffering similar problems. Some have had success with multiple attempts at clearing the CMOS, others have had no joy at all. We're trying to arrange an RMA with the retailer now, having exhausted all other options.

I pray that I don't have similar problems. I'm expecting my board tomorrow now. One post in OCW forums referers to a Swedish website which says that there are compatibility issues with Antec power supplies in particular. Since I have a Truepower 430 I am slightly worried. No reason this power supply shouldn't work, and logic says it SHOULD, but others have put worries in my mind....

I run mine of an Antec Truepower without trouble. It's either a 430 or 480, can't remember which.

Truepower, or Truepower 2? It seems that ATX 2.0 (Truepower 2) or better is essential for this mobo, anything else and it won't boot.
