**The ASrock 939dual-SATA2 (ULi M1695) thread**

If i try 166 for some reason i get less of a OC on my cpu (well that shows up on 1st boot screen something like 2.4 instead of 2.7) So thats why it is at 133. Dont get me wrong, i have no idea what im doing at all, This is just all done from the great help i have got from this forum. I wouldnt know where to start on a different motherboard.

If you want to go further then do the Vcore mod.

It really is a doddle if you have even a clue how to solder. If not, go to Halfords and buy a Windscreen Demister Repair Kit. This is basically just conductive paint.

Apply it with a tooth pick or similar and job done. Can be removed easily too if you make a mistake or the mobo ever needs an RMA.

which is the best guide for this mod please, pref. with loadsa piccies!!

cheers

vcore mod
http://www.ocworkbench.com/ocwb/ultimatebb.php?/topic/30/4975.html

i used the sgnd to VID3 rather than VID4 that is shown in the diagrams
this means i set bios at 1.35v and actually receive 1.55v
the VID4 one can cause probs cause you set it at 1.15v in bios to get 1.55v and often the bios will think its getting too few volts and not post

i used cocktail stick and silver conductive paint and a steady hand (mobo out of case, but HSF still attached)

CPU
htt set to 270
try setting the switch in the bios from auto to manual
multiplier switch is set to 10
vcore where it is

RAM
mem @ 133 equal 180mhz or less than ddr 400 speeds(underclocked) so you can set the ram timings in bios to say 2.5-3-11-3, which signal the rams reading /writing waiting speeds,or something close.Or leave at auto .but you should find out what a reasonable setting for your timings should be.Try these ones.

mem set to 166 equals 225mhz ram(overclocked) ddr 500 .so if you have good ram you can keep the same timings ^ ^ ^ ^

Cpu speed will be the same its just ram your clocking.

hope this helps

if you set it to 166 and it boots i wouldnt worry about the post screen check it using cpu-z and see what settings it has for the memory.

Why dont OCUK sell these boards they seem very popular.

probably because the returns will be high from failing to post after flashing and the amount of support they need for only a small profit from a relatively low cost m/b.
however for the user who knows is peculiarities and how to set up the bios options its a real bargain.

didn't use magnifying glasses :) but do admit to a rather uncool headlamp from a local wellknown diy store that shines a little extra light where i am looking

it is easier to take mobo out of case (15min job) tape it up, apply a little at a time and dry with hairdryer in between

fiddly but easy enough

I can manage 2.5-3-11-3 seeming to be the quickest. 1T with ocz booster @ 2.7v

thats for 133/166

i believe 2 cl is only on intel boards --I THINK

my psu died last night - hiper type r
i hope it hasn't damaged anything else.....
i think it might be all the reboots i have had to do with these bioses not remembering the vcore - annoying thing being i have just got the vid3 vcore mod working sweetly :(

Ouch!!! I had a PSU die on me and it took my motherboard, hard drive and a stick of RAM :(

I hope this isn't the case for you encephalopathy and it's just your PSU that's gone to silicon heaven.

I am running 2Gb GSkill ZX and I have mine stable at 2-3-2-5-1T (the rated timings) overclocked slightly with no issues at all.

Most unfortunate - I had an Antec Truepower 430 blow, but it took nothing with it. The fuse in the power plug blew too ! Hopefully he'll be OK

I usually do:

Windows, SP2 (or slip streamed), ULi, gfx driver, then "the rest". :)

well, what an afternoon
new hiper type r - put it in tried to switch it on - nada :(
decided i couldn't be so unlucky and more likely i am a muppet

took everything out, set it on desk connected it up an it worked :)

another 30 mins to replace everything back in the case and i am good to go

plus i initially had thought my memory was duff, so ordered 2gb g-skill hz from here :)
it has arrived at my fathers (to keep her indoors from finding out i have spent even more) and i will pick it up tomorrow

i am much happier now!! running 270x10 1.55vcore stable ocwbeta1.2 bios
