The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

Inversion effect is where you see a sort of lines/cross-hatching when something moves rapidly, particularly items of bright colours.

Google: inversion ROG Swift and see all the threads come up in various forums!

I was unsure what the effect was called but from what you're describing i noticed it right away on the rog.And i can report that my previous gsync monitor, which was an asus 248QE (modded by the bolton shop last christmas) also suffered from this, though bizarrely only seemed to affect the left side of the screen :).Its not mega noticeable and some games are affected more than others (WOW shows it up quite a bit) but you learn to live with it.I wouldnt want to dissuade anyone whos on the fence about getting the monitor, its really not as bad as it sounds :D

I saw it once for a split second on BF4 firing range map earlier when testing settings as I swung around on the top of the building to face the sun but unable to replicated it again so far. Doing the same motion over again a few times didn't result in it happening again so not sure why it happened that one time.

I noticed it most prominently on the game Warframe which has loads of in-your-face particle effects. I imagine fantasy type games (MMOs perhaps) would show this more readily. I didn't really notice it too much on BF4 myself. If somebody really wants to see exactly what people are talking about with these inversion artifacts they should try Nvidia 3D Vision ;). Still had more fun than I was expecting with the 3D Vision 2 kit though, it is great on ESO.

Forgive me if this has been brought up already, but there are over 3000 posts in here....

Anyone else getting a noticeable flicker? It's starting to bug me. It happens in games, all of a sudden there will be a noticeable "pulsing" on the screen. It seems if I turn g-sync off it goes away, but then urrm what's the point in that?

An interesting thing is also that I have been getting headaches these past few days :/ hmmm. So far so good tonight though. But it does make me wonder.

The only game I've noticed flickering in is world of tanks and it was only during battle loading. I think its just a problem with certain games

Yeah flickering only happens on game menus for me

OMG BF4 is amazing with this screen. Well worth the money

I also have gsync on but I am not sure what I am supposed to be looking for or missing lol

I get flicker with gsync on in any game where the framerate drops below 30 (so loading screens and menus it happens a fair bit) somewhat off putting.

gsync on in say BF4 if your holding a good framerate is immense though, I might have to be a little more choosy about which games I do and don't enable gsync for.

Well the light will change to red to indicate its on. Use gsync for a bit and then switch back to vanilla and you will notice the tearing and the fact that it does not feel as smooth.

Yeah it's in menus and sometimes when loading at the start of Shadow of Mordor. I did some googling and it seems as people have said; g-sync when <30fps. It's a bit annoying tbh. What happens in a game like The Evil within?

What should i go for first: rog swift or 2 980s? i think rog swift as my 680s should still be decent until i can get the 980s surely?
Or wait til end of month and order the lot via finance buy now pay 12 months later?:D

In that case I recommend you go for

X3 Asus ROG Swifts monitors
X4 GTX 980's
X1 motherboard with Quad SLI support
X1 NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision 2 New Wireless Glasses & IR Emitter Kit

:D

if you're getting 2 of something, save some money and get a pair of 970's and overclock them, the performance difference between the 970 and 980 isn't justified by the price difference imo

if you get in to waiting then you may as well wait for the 980ti / Titan2 or whatever the next big card is going to be called
