The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

Is there any update on the red Gsync LED being stuck problem? Even the new Witcher driver hasn't fixed it.

I have to roll back to before the GTA driver to get it work again.

It's what is holding me back from ordering one of these, both this and the acer suffer from issues i couldn't live with, particularly for the kind of money these go for.

Yea, I'm sending mine back for a refund while I'm still within 14 days of purchase (didn't buy mine from OC though). Just impressed at all for the amount of money it cost. I actually went back to my non g-sync 1080 BenQ because it's picture is just nicer to look at.

I've been trying to get to the bottom of it. But it seems to be a characteristic of the screen, with the older ones having it worse. Some people may not see it because they are used to it, other monitors do it too apparently. It's especially noticable in 3D vision. Some suspect it's a trade-off for having very high response times or something else.

A high brightness setting as well as having OD enabled appear to make it worse though.

Asus remain quiet about the whole thing, as always. There must be a huge bulge in that rug by now with all the stuff under it ;)

Supposedly happens on all the 144Hz panels in some shape or form.

Not seen it at 120Hz myself, checked fairly exhaustively, but can't discount it happening - at 144Hz its pretty hard to miss once you notice it happening.

So basically it's a characteristic of these panels rather than a fault? That's good to know, I do notice it but the benefits far outweigh it imo, still very happy with it. It's most apparent to me in Black Ops 2 Multi, probably because that's the fastest thing I play at the moment.

Well the LED being red tells me Gsync was working in the game or not. With it being red constant now its hard to tell, especially when some games go full screen windowed and Gsync doesn't work.

I sent back the December Swift. Atrocious black uniformity like my old BenQ XL2420G. Gamma was also very slightly worse. Despite rumours of December builds being more trustworthy reliability wise, I decided to keep the October Swift, it just has such an incredibly nice screen, almost like a CRT. Only thing is, it gets hot on bottom bezel, is that normal on all Swifts? It has zero bleed, except when in dark room and completely black screen. Even then, its still not very noticeable. At this point I'm just really nitpicking. So far my Swift absolutely demolishes in every way possible my old BenQ XL2420G. Its a NIGHT and DAY difference! In the end I am very happy I purchased this one.

The october Swift has probably the best black uniformity I have ever seen on a lcd panel. I'm assuming I probably allready have a really good one and got lucky? I guess its not worth it to send it back and try to find one even better? Haha i'd probably be pushing my luck. :p

I give the Swift a 9/10. I deducted 1 point due to agressive anti-glare coating on it. Damn shame for that, otherwise it would be perfect. Still very very happy with my Swift. Now I just need to accompany it with 2x 980 TI 6GB in SLI, soon hopefully.

Hello all. I've had my swift since November and am very pleased with it and it has behaved faultlessly. Since yesterday I cannot switch it on from the button, I have to switch it off and on at the wall and then it's fine.

Anyone seen this before....?

Thanks

Hi,
I have got my Swift for more than two weeks now. Generally quite happy with it. However, today I noticed dead or stuck pixel. It is at the bottom left corner of the screen, almost unnoticeable. I will run some flashing screens next few days in hope to revive the pixel. Not sure what to do if it will not help. I have two more weeks to swap for new one under OCUK dead pixel policy. Would you go for the swap or would you live with it if you can hardly notice it?

Another thing worries me as well. Take a look at this picture:

Top vertical line of the window is uneven. On one color backgrounds the screen draws perfectly even vertical lines. On multi color and multi shape backgrounds the vertical lines are not so even. Or do I see thing? If I remember correctly my Benq costing half of this screen did not have this problem. Can you guys confirm that your Swift does the same or not? Maybe mine really should go back:(

Guys, I really would appreciate some help here. Could other Swift owner download this image

put it in the background, open any window, replicate my screenshot and confirm that top line of the window is perfectly straight not like this:

My Swift is able to draw perfectly straight lines

Only in particular circumstances the lines look not straight:confused:

I was looking to grab one of these a few months ago but it was at the height of people complaining about grainy images and other small things like that, is this monitor widely regarded as being top banana again now? or are there other monitors coming that I should wait and see how they perform too? I wanna make the jump to 1440p but the monitor has to be near faultless for the price theyre expecting for these!

That looks like an optical illusion to me. I can see what you're talking about on my Samsung monitor but the line is actually straight when I hold a sheet of paper up to it.

Looks like a dithering issue.
Notice that where it 'bows' is where the similar colors from the background and the similarly colored ban border merge together. So probably dithering or inversion issues of some sort with the blending colors.
